Yeah, I have no idea what you're trying to say...Germinating the seeds before putting them in soil perhaps? If so yeah, paper towel method works fine and I definitely prefer that to just placing them in the soil.

Well after looking at that again it seems you're asking if we've ever put a seed in the soil before we germinated it? I haven't as far as how long it takes to sprout...thats going to vary from plant to plant and all I can really say is have some patience...You remind me of all the people on here asking about how much bud we think your plants are going to get or how tall...Its quite annoying.

just plant the ungerminated seed straight out the pack into the prepared soil/medium 1/4" deep keep soil/medium nice and moist cover with a humidity cover(cling film) keep the temps at 21*-23* in dark and a fresh seed will sprout in 3-4 days.
as soon as it lifts the soil/medium then give it light.
(no light before it sprouts just a quick look every 12hrs).
this is the way i germ seeds and they all sprout within 70-85 hrs everytime no paper towels or soaking seeds just plant and go.

give the guy a break.
you will never estimate harvest weight but you can estimate the time it takes to germ a seed.
all my seeds (1500+) germ and sprout within 70-85hrs everytime you just need to know what you are doing and be able to tell viable seeds by looking at them find the right method and you will get 100% germ rate everytime.

I soak mine for 18-24 hrs first then I put them in peat pellets and sit that on my tivo system. Thats keeps the medium warm.

here is the pics of the gear i use.
one shows the cheap plastic prop with the clear lid(humidity dome).
one shows a dry jiffys and shows how they fit in the prop nicely(room for 20 jiffys).
the pic of the swollen jiffy shows you how i prep them soak them in warm water untill fully soaked then just squeeze the excess water out and shape it how it looks in the pic.
and one pic just shows what kind of weight you want the jiffy to be once prepped.
if i am planting maybe 10 seeds then i will weigh each jiffy to 38g to give consistency with the moisture level you can give them a light misting of water after 12 hrs and that will do untill they sprout.
once this is done just make a small 5mm deep hole in the top of your prepped jiffys and just simply drop the seeds in there holes straight out the packet cover them slightly with some peat from the jiffy put them in the prop put the lid on and keep in a drawer in TOTAL DARKNESS make sure the temps are 21-23* and you are most definately going to get 100% germ rate within 70-85 hrs.
i have done over 100+ seeds for various people just to get their sprouts started and never had one not sprout.as soon as you see the peat cracking at the top of the pellet and life coming(any whiteness from the embrio/seed)then remove them from the dark and start your 18/6. NO LIGHT UNTILL THEN ONLY A QUICK CHECK ON PROGRESS.
i may do 6 seeds shortly for a friend and when i do i will show you the sprout as it cracks the jiffy surface.
[EDIT]
(this info is from and earlier thread were i was explaining to someone how i germinate my seeds in to sprouts).

lol i have a light on top of the pot . wil it still work?
i have heard of many doing what you are doing and keeping it under the light untill the seeds sprout and it seems to work just as well (i am told).
but i have always kept mine in the dark untill they sprout and then transfer them to under the light.

it took mine about 2-3 days before i saw any sign of life then it took about 2 more weeks until i saw any leaves that looked like cannabis leaves as you get the 1st leaves which die off later :)

makes sure your watering them everyday and that the temprature is arounf 70-80 and constant light until you see them sprout would be good for them :)
if still nothing more in 2-3 days dig them out and see whats going on :)

Yes you can estimate the time it will take for a seed to sprout however, that information would be readily available through a quick google search. I'm not to keen on helping those who don't first put some time into looking for the answers to their own questions which he may or may have not done. But also, if you're looking for help it does pay to use proper english and type/write your sentences in a coherent manner{Twas actually the main reason I didn't offer an estimate}. I understand that he has a much more legitimate question than someone asking for an estimate of how much bud their going to get or whatever but as I said before, that info could be found very quickly through a google search or just putting the seeds in the dirt as their meant to be done and watering them...Then waiting and seeing for oneself how long it takes for them to sprout. I wasn't attempting to "flame" him in any way simply saying that how long they take to sprout is going to vary some and truthfully the best way for him to learn these things would be trial and error...I think anyone would learn more and be more likely to not repeat the same mistakes again if they are allowed to fail at something or do the research, get the answer they were looking for and trying it{Successfully or unsuccessfully} rather than expecting to get certain results just because someone else did. This is actually a perfect example...You told him 3-4 days, on the fifth when he has yet to see any sign of life from them what does he do? Come running back, as I said before there is going to be variability and it would have been best for him not to go into the process of germinating believing he would see plants popping out of the dirt by day 4...It would have been best in my opinion for him to just plant them, water them and wait without any predispositions as to how fast the process was going to take and then perhaps in the future compare his results this time to a future attempt and taking notes on what if anything he did different and what if anything changed with regards to the plants because of this...

I put mine straight into the dirt & had them sprout in 2 to 10 days. Sometimes an older seed takes alittle more time to sprout. Also got to keep them warm 70 degrees or above & i also just mist the top of the soil with a spray bottle or you could cause them to rot.
