Smart Meters a Threat!

So I've been doing some reading about smart meters, and it literally has killed my dreams of ever growing. Smart meters are able to track your energy usage to the point of knowing when your lights turn on and off(cycles of growing will stand out=bad news. So the amount of wattage wont even matter 12/12 is 12/12), when you are blow drying your hair, etc. It can even tell what the appliance is(High pressure sodim lamp hmmm I wonder what this customer is doing with a 1000 w HPS lamp).Now dont call me paranoid, Im only spewing the facts. If you dont, it basically was an article about a landlord that installed these smart meters and within, I quote, "3 days" they were able to bust a grow op....Still not concerned?

Not only can they track your usage, they can turn off applicances they deem unnessary in case of an upcoming power outage or overload of the grid. What if Im on vacation and they find my Fan( thats scrubbing through carbon) unnessary, bam my whole house is gonna smell like weed. Or my fluros, bam hermies!lol.

And thats not the only thing. These things give of electromagnetic radiation, that can cause cancer.http://omega.twoday.net/stories/5349941/...
WE need to do something about this! I dont understand why we need smart meters to help save energy. If someone wants to save energy they will, a meter is not going to make someone more energy conscious. We are going to be paying a lot of money for these things, and sometimes the power company doesnt even alert customers when they are installing them. I think its the governments way of finding grow ops, and they have finally suceeded. If my new place doesnt have one, I am going to make the most of it while I can until I see that new smart(dumb) meter.

Does anyone on here grow with a smart meter? If so, what kind of lights do you use, what cycles do you run your room in(like are u strictly 12/12) and what is the wattage of your light?

I don't have a smart meter, but I agree that they are potentially bad news.

I have my doubts that they can accurately say what appliances are running though. With this in mind, I would probably advise running 2 flower rooms on opposite 12/12 hours, in conjunction with an electronic ballast to minimise the inductive load spike that may identify a HID startup.

Read this:

i found this article thats make me a little more at ease, however unauthorized access does not include police.

At what point do you think they will bother looking? A 400 or 600 watt lighting system? 1000 watt? Even if they figured out it was lighting, they still have to figure out what the lighting is doing. Taking wild guesses is going to be bad PR for any agency after the first few "mis-reads" come into play in court. What about those that are legal to grow...not sure what they could really use all the tech for.
