can we clear something up!!

ive been having a gd look at lots of veg pics on here and was wondering, wen peeps say 4 weeks in veg, do you mean 6 weeks old as you allowed 2 wks 4 seedling stage, or r u meaning 4 weeks from seed!! reason for asking is because there are some peeps on here whos plants are like 2ft tall after 3-4 weeks veg, mine have never had that sort of growth but then i always say 2 weeks seedling then start veg time,,, wat say u

If it's 4 weeks into flower, it's 4 weeks after the 12/12 light cycle has started.

Some folk veg for ages before they flower - that's why they look bigger.

I'm waiting until mine show preflowers as that is their way of saying their ready to go!!!

soz bud think u misunderstood me, i know the flowerin time is taken from moment of 12/12 switch, but do u class seedling time ie the first 2 weeks as part of ya veg time??

This is my first grow so i'm no pro, but I called it 4 weeks of veg from seed untill I flowered. In that 4 weeks they got to be between 12" and 15".

i myself start my time when i start feeding them. ushaly thats 3 weeks from cuting the clone,or the seed sprouting.

Well i'm 2 weeks into flower and they are now 25" to 28" tall. 3 girls so far.
How big do yours get?

usually grw indica dominant and after 6 weeks frm seed gen end up at bout 1m . thats without topping though so cud make a little shorter if needed, average rule of thumb apparently is 3 times veg height = final height,

I'm no pro but I would call veg after the seed or clone has rooted. Or when you start giving nutes like someone said.

Also... flowering time should be counted from when you start seeing flowers, NOT the 12/12 switch. The switch tells the plants it's time to start flowering, but they don't change phases instantaneously... it takes between 7-14 days for the flowers to show up normally.

When you look up a strains 'flowering time' they are talking about when the flowers show up... not the 12/12 switch. I think this is why a lot of first timers cut to early... apparently 1 week can double the 'high' time and seriously affect the quality of high too. You should always harvest according to trichomes not 'flowering time'... that just gives you an idea when to start paying attention.

The time between the switch and when flowers show is still veg time... the plant still grows vertically and still likes grow nutes... some transition the nutrients during this time 1:3 Veg:Flow, 2:2, then 3:1, only giving full flower nutes when pistals arrive.

hmmm i always used to give no nutes during swich over week then flowering nutes! i might try wat u do this time see if it helps,, i can c ya logic

Just so I'm not lying... I'm only on my first grow, and changed to flower nutes when I switched to 12/12... but I have learned a lot since then and will do this every time from now on.

And just so you feel ok with it... the folks who told me the transition tip were very reputable and succesful growers. And there was more than one of them saying the same thing.

I start counting veg time about 2 weeks after seedling stage, when they have been put in the soil, and ready to be under strong light.

I count the time until they show their first 5 blade leaves, and start growing inches a day as seedling time.

Can't veg until seedling stage is done.

Clones are a different story, they are as 'old' as the plant it was cut from.
