How much room you will need will be determined quite a bit by how big you want your plants to be. How big is this closet of yours?

You will definately need more lights than what you have to grow 8 plants. The cheapest solution around your lighting/budget issue is to plant them outdoors. Otherwise, with two bulbs, you are pretty much limited to 1-2 small plants.

Also, soft white bulbs (2700k) are better suited for flowering. If you are still vegetating your plants, you want cfls in the 6500k range for best results.

yea i know im just wondering if the soft white will work for flowering or if i should get some metal halide light bulbs to replace them untill flowering. and the closet isnt that big but i think it will be enough for them to get alittle bigger.

Do you mean, that you're wondering if the soft white bulbs will be ok for veg? Yes, you can use them, but you're plants will like 6500k bulbs MUCH better. Some people on here use HPS (2700k) for the entire grow. It's not that you can't do it, its just that you won't get optimal results, especially if you want to grow bigger plants.

K or Kelvin, it is the "temp" of the light if I am not mistaken. the 2700 and 6500 or not directly related to Lumens.

no man we are talking about the light color. you want 2700k for vegging and 6500k for flowering :peace:
wrong...
plants like 6500k for vegging..
2700k is best for flowering..

6500k gives a blue spectrum wich plants in veg go for...
2700k gives red spectrums wich plants like best for flowering..
