Indoor growing question

can i sprout seeds by putting them in soil with lights over them or do i have to put them in a wet paper towel

yea.. you can start them in soil... i personally soak my seeds for 24 hours in water and then plant them straight in soil.. never had a problem with it.. and they usually break through in about 3 to 5 days...

You dont need lights to sprout seeds, its probobly best done in the dark anyways. I detest the paper towel method myself, if they dry out and you forget em for any time it can suck. Id rather use 2 sponges placed together sitting in some water, or small cubes, more forgiving as they hold water that way better. Good dirt that holds water well and drains as well so its not too wet but stays moist will be ok if thats the route you wanna go.

you can do it both ways.

each has a +/-

paper towel

+ is you only plant seeds that sprout.

- you can damage the seed if you are not careful (arn't we stoned alot)

Soil

+ no broken seeds.

- some seeds take a long time and you think oh that one didn't work. if you waste the dirt you may throw out your best plant. if you put in an other seed you may get twins.
