Seedlings damping off

A couple of my new 3 day old seedlings are damping off, any reason why? They are under a 100 watt incadescent for now. and im trying not to over or under water

did your seedlings sprout yet? because you dont need light just warmth and moisture to make them sprout. then when they sprout throw them under a light or put them outside

Yeah they are about 1.5 inches tall, my problem is a couple are bent(almost 90 degree angle) right where the soil is. Also some are slightly angled. thanks in advance

hrmm what kind of light are on them? sounds like either the light isn't strong enough or its way too far away. try putting the light as close as you can w/o burning the plant

For now I'm using a 100 watt incadescent until I get some cfls. Its about 2 feet over the plants. But I might try moving it closer

yup its your light. its way too far away. also try to get something better than cfl's

put your light only a few inches away from the plant

Ok I appreciate the advice. Also, I am only growing 8 seedlings or so, would cfls be ok for the first three weeks or so? I do have a 360 watt halogen that im thinking about using .

yea cfls do work but i swear they are garbage. they will work fine just keep them about 1-2 inches from the top of the plant but when you get the knew light your plants will love you
