Aquarium CO2 tablets

Hullo everyone,

Has anyone tried using the CO2 tablets that are designed to help plant growth in aquaria?

I wondered if it would help my plants if I were to drop some tablets into a small glass of water and leave the glass in my grow cupboard.

What do you all think?

I got told no by an old wise grow man, co2 is much better to be taken in through the leafs not the roots, hope this is of help to you.

I don't think he's talking about putting the tablet in the nutrient res. I'm thinking if it emits C02 its good for the plants. I'm interested to hear from those w/ knowledge on this topic.....

Sorry i never read it right, baked, should be cool co2 is just that co2. cant see it making a great deal of diffrence.

lol WHAT!? Co2 makes a HUGE difference in grows. only in small grows tho, and ones with excessive heat, it helps the plant breathe. plants take in the co2 and release oxygen. this is how its done, humans do the same except opposite. what are the names of those tablets tho? i think im gonna pick sum up.

If the plant is growing its already getting what it needs, putting in co2 tabs is not going to act like some kind of turbo.

its necessary if your grow room is exceeding temps of 95 degrees...but unnecessary if ur Op is big or the temps stay cool. ive heard of that too. but what kinda yeast do u use?

whatever is handy bread, wine or beer making yeast. airborne yeast would eventually start it up too but take a lot longer to get going.
Seriously people, it's just a waste of time really.

Don't use CO2 unless under these circumstances:

Tiny grow with poor ventilation/circulation of air (air will get stale otherwise and too oxygen rich)
90F/32C growing temps (transpiration happens faster at greater temperatures)
Small plants under intense HID lights. (more light = more CO2 needed for growth after the lights go off.)

Plants store the carbon in the roots during the daytime and use it during the night for cell growth. That's what I meant.
