Just kidding nice box
You are correct, this is a hydro setup. The metal duct at the bottom is the fresh air vent as I would like to call it. It lets fresh air in the bottom and it also served as a good place to run the wires through. I could have just cut a whole in the box but that would let to much light in. With the duct not much of the outside light gets in. Now this is just my synopsis as it may not be correct but it seemed logical to me. I dont have a website explaining but I can tell you that I just went to HD and Lowes and purchased some 2x2 and OCB and went from there, I basically just built a box that is about 5ft high, 3 feet wide, 2 feet deep. Screwed it all together and there you have it. I cut out a hole at the top right of the box and mounted a fan there to push out the old air. I also have another fan that I am going to mount inside the box once I have green to circulate the air inside of the box. For the door I just used some velcro and gorilla glue and glued them to the door and box so the door would stay closed but I would have easy access to the box. Now my challenge is going to be draining the res every two weeks but there is a drain on the res so I may just attach a water hose and let it go out that way. As I said this is my first grow using Hydro so there will be many faults as I try to perfect it.was wondering... thats a hydro setup right? whats with the metal tube feeding the wires through, give me a tutorial of your grow box? or a website that would explain it....typing was a chore after that pic....haha fucked me up! good luck
Not really I live in space. Zero Gravity, but multiple gravity bongs.dude, don't you have a hard time keeping water in the res if its attached to the ceiling?
Where can I get mylar cover and how much is it?covering the interior walls of the box with mylar would be very beneficial f or the light
Ok, so I am new to this whole indoor growing thing so I really have no clue what wattage these lights are. They came with the stealth hydro kit that I bought. The original picture was taken before I really got started growing so yes the lights were at the top of the box as I was trying to estimate how much height I would be able to have. As I have them right now they are about 4" from the top of my largest plant, which I dont even really like calling it a plant yet as it only has about 3 layers of leaves so far. I understand I need to get some more lighting, but I am really just trying to grow personal so the yield on my grow may not be large. Right now it seems the lights I have are doing pretty good but who am I to judge, it looks better than any plant I have grown outdoor as far as the fullness and height. The plants seem to be growing fairly well now. If you read my Grow Journal you will see that I am about 2 fing months into it already and have 2 small plants but I think I am getting there. First try and will keep it up. Thank you for all your help.dude what wattage are those cfls you are using?
do you have a link to them somewhere online?
To help with high temps and keep it on the downsie, I suggest buying 2 4" inline duct fans. Even booster fans will work on something that small. Great thing about them are 1) cheap, 30 bucks each 2) quiet 3)can be wired into a 120v outlet 4) super quiet.
Now what I would do is buy a reducer for the duct fans from 4 inch to 3 inch. I would do this because it made it easier to mount, and easier to DIY a carbon filter.
So the shelf that divides the veg/flower rooms is an airflow block assuming you will place an intake fan at the bottom, and outtake at the top. I would cut 2 3" holes at the back of the shelf. Buy$ 2 3" abs pipe 90's and glue them into the holes. duct tape them to prevent light leaks, and place a black stocking over one end and now you have full ventilation
