When I re-do my nute solution and change water, I drop it to 5.5, add my nutes, and let it go for a few days. Correct pH after those few days, let it go again.

what kind of declorinator and where can i get it?
I use AMQUEL. You can get it online or at your local pet supply. I use AMQUEL because it removes CHLORAMINE. If you only have chlorine in your water, you can let it set open a couple hours and it will eveporate the chlorine. If you have CHLORAMINE in youwr water, it does NOT evaporate so you need to use something like AMQUEL..

So would you sudgest dropping it from whatever it is to the 5.8 range all at once or gradually over a few days?
If you can keep it between 5.5 - 6.5, you're okay.... 5.8 is ideal. If my pH is REALLY OFF, I'll add pH adjuster to get it in range and I do it all at once, which most say not to do.

Tap water works... but check it first! I was using distilled H20 mixed with Tap... and moved to all tap and my plants love it. I let it sit 24 hours before I add it to my res. I fill my old water bottle almost tot the top and let them sit. My tap is pretty pure... 70 ppm out of the tap. Test your H20 before you try it. My plants are thriving on good ol tap water!

You need to add CalMag. Easy fix... no worries.
