growing using cfls

just a question for garden knowm...just to start the topic. so to yeild 1.5 pounds from 3 plants...how long did you let them veg, and how tall were they before and after you started flowering? how many lights did you use and at what power?

im growing 2 plants with 5 cfls...3 are 23 watt, and the others are 42 watt. do you think that this will be enough power for 2 plants?

Hey Vand...

It was .5 pounds... 1/2 a pound... 8 ounces... LOL actually it was closer to 9 ounces.... wait...? yeah 9 ounces.. LOL

There were 8 CFLs all of them were 42 watts...
It was a Mango started from seed and 2 Blue Dot clones...


I just met with Ed Rosenthal again this evening.. It looks like the book will be published in September.. I will KNOW for sure in the next 2 weeks..

The book details every element and detail about this grow..

i would just be sure to swith you cfls when you start to flower. i bought 6 for veg that produce more of the of a "day light" lumens and then for flowering got 6 that put out the "soft white" lumens. it seemed to do the trick for me.

anyone know how many cfls it would take to do o say 4-6 very small just rooted clones using the sog method, maybe 4 inches tall when they start flowering? right now ive got 5 42watt ones...thanks a lot

hey VAND... it really depends how tall the grow.

The plant above was flowered at 4 inches tall (4 nnodes also) and was started from seed... it grew to 23 inches..

Since you are using clones they may only get 10 inches talll 5 bulbs may be adequate... can we see a picture..

I would turn the bulbs so that they are horizontal (more surface area facing the plants) and build a home made reflector out of card board and mylar(or any reflective material)..

sound like you will have a good grow!!

im planning on getting just one large cola, and being able to use clfs would be great...i dont have pics yet, because im waiting for the plants that are flowering to finish up, but i have one mother that i am taking clones from and im gonna use those clones for mothers.

i have been using some cfls on my two clones. still need to make a stop at my dispensary to confront them about selling me a male which is sitting outside just for kicks (and to take it to them to prove they sold me a male).

well the good thing is now my one plant has been flowering since december 22 and i have all my cfls on the one.

ill post some updates when flowering is bit more obvious.

the one thing about the cfl set up i noticed is that those clips need a good system to be able to move around.

i got fast growth from them and might stick with them for veg but def going to be putting in a hps for flower next round.

im going to the home depot this weekend and am going to buy 3 8' floros 4 bulbs a piece can any one tell me if that will be good enough?

8 feet floros are huge. If you are growing hundreds of clones that will suit you perfectly! But for a couple of plants get cfls.

with all my lights total i have 22,000 lumens floros thats alright for lights on sell i got the 6' ones does anyone think thats enough light for my 4x4 grow room and every other bulb is warm

U must consider that those lumens are spread out over 6 feet. You should lst this plant horizontally 5" or so to make the most of your flouros. That would be an interesting route and would def make the most of your tubes.
