I want to reuse the clay pebbles from my 4 pots but the roots from the previous harvest have formed through out & around the pebbles. How can I remove all root matter with out hand picking?

I get a large plastic bucket and bang the root ball against the side, the clay pebbles will fall out.

When you are done, fill it with water and churn them around to get the old fertilizer off of them. Rinse and re-rinse them a few times, picking out the roots as you go. Get as much roots out as possible. Might want to stelilize them also. Fill the bucket with water then add a couple tablespoons of bleach. Soak then rinse a few times to get rid of the bleach.

Hope this helps...

If there is a small amount of diluted bleach remaining after re-rinsing & I begin growing with those pebbles could they kill my plants?
