first grow conditions so far: any feedback?

the local hydro guy turned me on to "b'cuzz cocosubstrate"... said the roots would plow right through it and it holds a bit of moisture, stays nice an loamy... got 1/3 cubic ft of worm castings that i mixed with the 50 lb bag o' coco, and got a bottle of fox farm grow big...

i'm leaving in 2 days, an will be gone for 4, so i'm tryin to decide if i should repot today, or is it better to wait til i get back... any opinions out there would be welcome.

i need to find some f***ing cheap plastic pots... home depot, lowes, hydro store- can't find what i need anywhere... jesus, what's the secret?! lol

thanks- it's fun to watch the growth! humidity is down to %50 now, but i think that's cause the temp rose to 89 deg F... finished making the door to seal off the grow room last night, so i'm sure that's why the high temp, so now i just have to think about how i'm gonna vent it.

okay, i've had some issues, but i am hopeful for a recovery- we shall see...

here it is in a nutshell:

went away on vacation for 5 days- came back to yellowed lower plant leaves. transplanted into b'cuzz cocosubstrate with earthworm castings 24hrs ago and fed with fox farm grow big (pics below are right after transplant). i raised the light to 18 inches above the plants per babygrow's suggestion. read more about all of that, check out two different threads- one about ph, and the other about the problems i had in general- some of the posts from people were very informative and helpful to me, really grateful for their input!

plants are definitely looking perkier today... will post some updated pics in a day or two for comparison. temp is hanging around 86 deg f. did the best i could with the pot sizes i had on hand... most of them are in 1-1.5 gal pots now, and i have them all on different sized props to give them all an even shot at getting lumens...

one thing to note, before i transplanted, i held the root balls in my hand and very loosely grasped while i very gently shook them to release any excess soil... the hope is that i got rid of a significant amount of the miracle grow that i used for planting the seedlings (which did have the time release nutes in it- ugh)... whatever happens, i think this is all a great experiment... i can fine tune everything through this process so when i use something other than bagseed next time, my chances of success will hopefully be improved! the miracle grow soil got so compacted- if the plants survive the transplant, i think they will flourish in their new loamy soil! as always, would love to hear anyone's comments and suggestions...

looks great man theyll bounce back keep a tight watering schedual. stick finger an inch down to see if soil needs more/less water. good setup too i like it.:joint::hump:

thanks friend- just watered em a few minutes ago, and i think the timing was perfect- pots were just about dry, without any signs of stress in the plants. i think i might try and water them a little less volume a little more frequently... they gotta feel like they're holdin their breath from one watering to the next.

Good job on the plants so far, they look pretty compact and healthy besides the yellowing which will subside.

I feel your pain though I went away about a week ago on vacation for two weeks and didn't have a trustworthy person to care for my plants and sadly came back to some really dead plants ( still makes me sad )

But just started a couple more and took a day and a half to germinate and about 16 hours to break surface and been shooting up like a couple bats out of hell ever since.

your plants look really good. i'm about 3 days behind you, haha. mine still have the pedals, but i can see the leaves starting to lift away from them. eek, isn't it exciting to grow?! i love it!!

thanks haha- yes it is quite exciting!

here's the latest update:

first, a progression of 4 pics since i repotted the plants, 9 days ago, the first pic being of the day after repotting and the last pic being today, just so you can see the difference- the good soil and ff grow big seem to be doing their job, and it seems like shaking the mg out of the rootballs didn't hurt the plants too much- whew...





ok, now here are a couple side shots... some secondary growth seems to be filling in a little, and the canopy of the garden is reaching 9-10 inches.



now, for the preflowers... any guesses out there people?
