Stretching continuing through flowering...

Hello everyone...

I have about 10 plants (from clones) separated in bags containing coco. I am using 1000w HPS + 2x 4' T5 fluorescent fixtures, each is 4 x 53w.

Of the 10, 2 are very heavy indicas and are looking fantastic. The other 8 seem to be much more sativa-like. Unfortunately, I do not know

We are currently beginning our 3rd week of flowering and I have noticed that the 8 sativa-like plants are still growing noticeably in height while the 2 indicas are not growing as much and seem to be focused on bud production.

Light cycle: low 80s, 40% humidity.

Night Cycle: low 70s, 30-40% humidity.

- Any ideas on what could be causing the elongation or is it just genetic?

- Any way to "force" the plant to focus its energy on bud production?

Sativas are know to almost triple in size during flower so hold on lol and a few weeks of stretch is normal into flowering I got one girl 13 days in who grew 3 inches overnight two nights ago and its an indica. Keep a good 19-24 inches from the canopy and get ready to move that light everyday

Plants will continue to grow during flower so just keep your lights as close as possible without burning them.

Its pretty normal for your plant to have explosive growth during flowering. That extra dark period most likely causing the stretching to happen.

Erk. is right... Sativas grow tall... thats why indica are better for small height areas... even the indica can 2-3x's it height... luck... they're are more grimmer things one could get..

Not likely.

The tallest has grown to within 4" of the HPS and had to be tied down. The rest are 6-8" from the HPS.

Ah... I see.

In the past, I've typically worked with indicas and the clones we were given were all supposed to be the same strain...

...well, that obviously ain't true!

Plants will continue to grow during flower so just keep your lights as close as possible without burning them.

The lights are very close and the indicas are still growing, they've just slowed down when compared to vegetation.

The sativa-like ones haven't seemed to slow down at all and aren't producing bud density and size as rapidly as the indicas, but I chalk that up to different flowering ranges.

Erk. is right... Sativas grow tall... thats why indica are better for small height areas... even the indica can 2-3x's it height... luck... they're are more grimmer things one could get..

Cheers guys... I can take the bottom of the light up to about 5'6" or so. The tallest plant is probably upwards of 4'6" to 5'.

A month of vegetation and we are starting the 3rd week of flowering.

i had one girl triple in size.. went from 2 ft to 6 ft in 2 weeks.. it was crazy.. shes a beauty now tho... almost ready to harvest... about a week or so out.. check out my youtube video or journal if your interested... links are below..

Was wondering... are you using any HPS? From what I saw, I only noticed what looked like T5 florescents...

Ah... I see.

...well, that obviously ain't true!

It may be are they all from the same mother or multiple of sifferent its not unusual to see different phenos from the same bag of seeds. U could have two "stealth" phenos and the other are a little more on the sativa soze... Move two out and make them monsters!!! Lol

no hps at all.. they are actuall tt105 high output florescents.. each ballast is 420w and puts off a constant 44,000 lumens... they are bad ass... more expensive than an equvilant hps.. but i promise you one of these ballasts would blow away a 400w hps...

Do you mind educating me on the difference between the T5 and the TT105?

How does the TT105 provide better coverage/spectrum than HPS/MH?

i can give you as much info as i know from using and from experience...

the TT105 bulbs are high output florescents... the bulb is different than a standard floro bulb... i will include a couple pics... this includes the thickness per tube, which is about a sharpie, and the output, which is 11,000 lumens per bulb... 44,000 per ballast... and this is constant lumens.. with HID the lumen output they claim is the start up lumen rating.. the average running lumens for HID bulbs drop after a few minutes to the average running lumens.. again, the floros i use start at and maintain 44,000 lumens as long as the bulb is on...

they come with veg and bloom bulbs... so they cover the veg and flower period.. i forget the K ratings for them... i want to say like 5000k cool and 3000k warm...

each ballast measures about what a standard shop light does... 4 x 1... they put off almost NO heat... the hottest mine get is about 95F.. the bulbs themselves are touchable even after 8 hours of use... maybe 110F?? i keep them about 1 inch from the top of my plants without burn.. i've had girls grow into the lights and be there for at least 5 hours and not burn...

other than that they are sunleaves satellite IV h.o floros.. a little bit more initial cost.. but like i said they more than make up for the cost in performance...

Sounds very nice. Was thinking maybe replacing a T5 in the flower room with that which would allow me to bring the T5 into the veg room.

Can you clarify a bit by what you mean by "moving two out"?

Where do you suggest I move them to? The periphery?

The two short ones have the darker looking green while the taller ones have a lighter complexion. The flowers on the small ones are certainly progressing much faster.

Offhand, I am a bit wary to move the two that, IMO, look the best.
