Thats not correct. You start flowering when you see first signs of sex. pistils(hairs). Just because you switched the light cycle does not mean your plant is flowering. Some plants will show sex in a week, while others may take up to 20 days. This is a common misconception. If the package of seeds says 8-10 weeks flowering, the breeder means from the start of budding not 12/12

Just because you see pistle hairs doesn't mean the plant is flowering either, yet simply showing it's sex. If you have a female plant in a vegitative state beyond 21 days(or when it's first hair arrives), it still has those hairs every node or so, but it's not flowering, and generally won't start flowering until the light cycle reaches 14 to12 hrs of daylight. You may choose to veg the plant longer. Thus we call day 1 of flowering after we make the switch to 12/12. It is for the most part universally understood that way. Wether it's technically correct or not.

Yeah it does take about a week before ye see any tightening up of new growth & sex signs but the 1st long hours of darkness triggers flowering deep within the plants hormones. So technically from 12/12 switch :?:

two things have to be present for a plant to be what i consider flowering...

12/12 or other flowering schedule
sex showing on that particular plant.

I mean after 12/12. I understand that if you veg long enough the females will show either way. But you dont start counting flowering, until flowers appear. This is a plant that is in DAY 1 flowering after 14 days of 12/12

either way you will know when your buds are done and time should NEVER be a factor of when you harvest. just because it says 8 weeks flowering, doesnt mean your going to cut that fucker down on day 56.

If that plant is at day 1, how did you determine that the day before was NOT day one or maybe 2 days ago.....or 5. That plant is not at day one. That is ROUGHLY one weeks worth of 12/12 light cycle or 2 weeks as you said. You cannot pinpoint that growth on one single day. Trust me, and the other ppl tellin ya here.....you're slightly off on this. No offence. You're day one started two weeks prior.

I know this thread is OLD as hell. BUT!!!!!! After reading a bunch of different websites, I decided to write a breeder myself, and see if they would respond. I decided to go with Greenhouse Seeds, and they replied my email in less than 24 hours. I am only posting this to help any future people wondering when the breeders themselves start counting. I hope this help someone in the future. Now I know that this is only 1 breeder, and I will try to email a few more, but for now....... Here is a copy of my email from Greenhouse Seeds.
Happy Holidays,

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXX(my name doesn't matter),

Thank you for your email.

You start counting from the moment you switch the light to 12/12. The
flowering time depends on which strain you are growing. If you completed the
flowering weeks and the hairs are still quite white you can leave them a bit
longer. When 20-30% of the hairs become brown they are ready.

Kind regards,

GHSC

^ They did not write that...they should know that you don't go by "white hairs" .ol
LOL . Yeah ur right they didn't write that. I am a 36 year old kid! Here's their email add. Write them urself Smart ass. [email protected]
If u got the balls email them. then be a man and come back and apologize for thinking Im some lil fuckin kid playing games. I did this to help people understand what breeders do. Furthermore, pistils play a big part in harvest there smart guy. If ur trichs are ready..... SO ARE UR THE FUCKIN PISTILS. If ur trichs are ready, and ur pistils are white, something isn't right. U DIP SHIT! U have to take ALL of the signs(trichs/pistils/flowering swelling) into consideration when harvesting. And since they didn't write me that email, then why do they post the SAME EXACT INFO ON THEIR WEBSITE(look at the pic I posted below). HERE ENJOY THE FACTS. This is taken DIRECTLY from Greenhouse seeds website. Next time u talk out ur ASS make sure u got facts to back them up like I do.
