indoor plant is like a foot long, still top heavy. what to do!?

is this bad? the leaves are about an inch and half now, and the plant itself is a foot and i noticed this morning when i was watering it that it has to be really top heavy, i have a stick holding it up (not the kind you tie the stem to, a V stick that i just broke off a tree, im kindof worried it may have gotten stem damage, but i do

Sounds like you may have 2 problems.

1st. It may "top heavy" because it needs a fan blowing on it to strengthen the stem. Do you have a fan moving air around it?

2nd. Most of the time when it is getting tall and not very bushy it's because your light is to far away. What kind of light do you have? How far away is it? It should be as close as possible with out burning the plant.

3rd. Could be from his huge buds :D
You can always tie the top of the plant up just remember not to tie ya string to tight on ya plant

yea i dont have a fan on it my friend told me to but i kindof pushed that aside for the moment, otherwise im using a plant light 65watt light per plant.

im sure a fan would probably do the trick, the lights are about 4 inches from the top of the plants itself.

as for the stem the bottom of the stem about the 8 inches is about a 1/8 an inch and the rest on top is about 3/8 an inch. those arent exact measurements just trying to show you what i mean.

here is a picture of the one im concerned with, as you can see the stem seems far to long, as for what it looks like when its bending over, lets just say it bends all the way over.

HELP ME PLEASE!

any other input about the plant would be appreciated
the leaves are turning a little yellow on the tips, probably not the best, but nothing to cause harm i suppose.

and the stem on the bottom half is about half the size as the stem on the top half, i tried to explain a little better but this might be better help to understand.

I'm still going with what I said originaly. You need a fan and more/closer light. I'm not real familiar with CFL's, but your plant was stretching out to get to the light. While it was stretching it also didn't have any air flow to help strengthen the stem.

Get a fan, don't blow it directly on the plant just around in the room. As long as you see the leaves moving a little it should be ok.

also weeds crave the shittiest conditions. Like in nature weeds grow on the bare minimum of water. so be easy on the dro.

and yes light and some nice breeze will actually make more foood for the plant my man.

hmmm, if that were true why would people care about their set ups so much? weed prefering bad conditions is just not true......or were you joking?

yea that does sound kindof rediculous, everyone i know says it makes a big difference, as you can see mine isnt very professional, but what do you expect, its my first time, anyway i seriously think it would make a difference, a bad room = bad plants good room = nice good buds :D which is always a definate plus.

He didn't say he was using CFL's - said he was using (1) 65-watt "plant light" per plant.

I think insufficient lighting is causing stretching and it's all made worse by no fan.

Get a couple big, daylight CFL's on those plants ASAP!

im using the "plant/grow" lights as well. purchased two blue ones and one white
one at a homecenter and also have a small fluorescent light in my little greenhouse. the thing is that they're incandescents which are good for generating heat but then bad by that same token. you can get them fairly close to the plants as long as you have a fan going to cool down the fixtures/space. they've worked ok but if i had to do it over again, and i probably will, i'll go with a big cfl rig that i can raise and lower on a hoist/pulley.

If u need to tie up use a old pair of pantyhose. Cut up some pieces & it will have the abillity to strectch it out witout damaging anything.

yea if i had the choice to get cfl's i would, i feel like its my first grow, and theres plenty of seeds out there for me to get my hands on, this is kindof like a practice since i will definately be growing again. i need to make myself a grow box.
