Experience in growing in Peat Moss?

So I mixed up some hydroton, some "soil for flowers" and Peat Moss.

It used to be only soil and hydroton, but that mix dried up too quickly.

Reason why I chose Peat Moss is because my water is a bit high on PH and the moss is at 5-ish.

Anyone grew in it?

Im not quite sure what effect its had on my plants, but I think they are ok for bag seed.

They started in peat pellet/rings and are taking well to the new MG soil and BLACK mountain dirt.



ya know, stick your un-germinated seed in the expanded peat ring or what I did and wait they germ and position them

I love growing in peat moss. It's so soft it grows my plants a bit faster then regular dirt & it retains alot of water so isn't water too often. It also stays soft after it dries & it airates good. My last harvest I couldn't take the dirt off my pots due to all the roots in their. I had strong fat long roots in peat moss. I love it just becareful with the watering. It holds alot before it sttts to drain so dnt overwater. Lift your buckets.

My buckets have a lot of drain holes in them, so you think it's still possible to overwater them?

The thing I find annoying about peat moss is that the upper layer of it dries out too quickly.

Elk the upper layer isn't a problem. The bottom where your roots are at is moist & gets air so your roots will be all comfy. The top dying out proves the soil gets air from time to time. Don't feed everywatering either peat moss holds some nutes in it for a bit try every other watering for nutes.
