Cfl's are the energy saving bulbs you use in your house, Hps are street lights but are the best light to grow weed with! Have a look on ebay they have cheap hps the whole time, and if you can only afford bits here and there your probably just as good to go with cfl's and add more as your plant gets bigger and you wont "need" a vent system with cfl's but you should def have a fan to have strong plants! Oh yea that 4' tube but you'd probably want to get two of them cause most plants will bush out a bit and you still have to add a few small cfl's at the bottom as i dont think the tubes will have to much light penatration from the canopy!

thanks dan, will prob pick up a cheap cfl or two this week. i also have to make some kinda temp pully system until i get thw funds to buy one.

yeah, that looks like the one the guy in the local head shop tried to sell me, but it was bigger, he was quoting me something like 75 quid for the bulb alone....i think it might be too big for my needs, someone else said 150w max for my wardrobe, right? should i get 2, one for growing and another for flowering, or will just one do it all?

I got mine as a set, reflector, light(200w veg) & the hangers on ebay a year ago E150 i think it was. Wardrobe is 3.5' X 4.5' I used the veg bulb on lowryders & white dwarf & they flowered no problem but I ended up getting a 250w flower bulb in local grow shop for E60 & use it for the non auto flowering strains. I've never tried em with just the veg lamp

brilliant, brilliant. i'm learning! auto flowering, is that as the name implies? how does that work. i'm planning to grow "the church" as my first, any experience with that?

Yea if you could get two one of each colour spec and use them for both veg and flower it would be good enough, and 150w max was regarding hps as they put out alot of heat but i have a 400w in a wardrobe a bit smaller than yours its not ideal but the plants love it the only problem is i have to leave the door open when the light is on so its not to stealthy my point is the more light you have the better you plants are gonna be! Oh yea dont buy from the grow shops they are robbing you get a pre-paid credit card and buy off ebay and stuff much cheaper!

was jus reading your post der in seen ur runnin a 400w in a wardrobe, well im on da same boat !! and also having problems trying sort out da heat issue. iv gt 2 pc fans 4 extraction bt yet 2 keep the temps below 30 im havin 2 leave da door open which 2 honest as u said it aint stealthy at all .. bloodly nightmare lol

and 4 any1 dat has a gd way of keepin temps down im all ears ,

i am finkinn on using the extractor fans ya get in ur bathroom so ill let yas no how it goes .

was jus reading your post der in seen ur runnin a 400w in a wardrobe, well im on da same boat !! and also having problems trying sort out da heat issue. iv gt 2 pc fans 4 extraction bt yet 2 keep the temps below 30 im havin 2 leave da door open which 2 honest as u said it aint stealthy at all .. bloodly nightmare lol

hey guys my seeds are just starting to sprout...i was going to place them im plastic cups (with a hole in to drain excess water) with soil and place them in an east facing window sill (so they get a days worth of natural light) until i get my light(s) and place them in bigger pots when they grow...good idea? bad idea?

popped 5 D.P. Ultra Skunk in water on saturday, theyv shown themselves already so after i harvest the PP its 12/12 from seed with these bad boys n see how that goes!

I'm in Belfast, don't do outdoors anymore, but still keep with soil. I got some t44,s some AK, and some white widow, also a couple of sativa's of unknown origin. I have a couple of pictures on RIU, look in my gallery.

Very nice rusty when i have some flowering il def throw up some pics, Yea that kali mist is meant to be an animal so with the white rhino should be sweet whats the flowering time on it?

hey bassimingo, im the west, but mega boglands. if i look ot my window, i see bog!

as for the windowsill idea, its fine,ive tried and done it many a time, BUT, if you just plant it in a pot and put something clear over it, like a clear plastic bag, the plant will do a lot better.

cheers! 2 of the 4 germinated so far, i placed them in 2 clear plastic "smoothie" cups pierced at the bottom, with my soil i bought from the head shop (ph level 6 - 6.5) and have placed them on the window sill, i'm popping out to the shops to grab some clingfilm!

yeah, i like just having something over it, i find the warmth and moisture it makes helps germination and early growth. having said that, you still cant beat growing it outside. i have a trainwreck going at the moment and it was stretching loads on the windowsill. anyway, i just took it outside, and placde the pot in a sheltered spot but in full sun, and it loves it! its grown about 2 weeks worth on the windowsill in three days outside! i know if i had a pollytunnel id plant in one of them, theyd grow so well in one!
