Did it rain inside my grow box

true, but moist air is heavier then non moist air and with no air movement it will just sit there and settle.

Hey-
Im a basement grower... and my basement is 70-80% humidity in the summer. My grow closet is a little bigger then yours (4 x 5 x 8)... but I run the dehumidifier inside the room 24/7 (on 2 hour on 2 hour off mode) . I sit a fan right on top of it to move the air. I empty it out at least once a day. If you have a concrete floor / walls... there is plenty of moisture seeping though the floor and walls. If you cant fit the dehumidifier in the box... can you leave the door open during lights on... and have the dehumidifier backed up to the room? Before I put the dehumidifier in the room... my humidity was sooo high the plywood was warping. Good Luck.

Ok so for tonight I will leave the exhaust fan running all night and see what happens. I just looked again and humidity inside the box has dropped down to 40% from 44%. So it seems to alot less them whats out side the cabnet. I'm gonna let that fan run all night. I am going to put a fan inside the cabnet to just move air around. I'n not gonna add a fan to the intake cause like forseti said it should be enough to exchange air and so far it seems to be cause if it it wasn't enough my temps most likly would have risen alot higher then what they are sence I do have a 400 watter in there.
let me know how this works out for you! i have tried to put an oscillating fan in my cab which is same as yours and same exhaust system basically and what i was getting was NOT VERY good flow out of exhaust...its like the fan took away my negative pressure to allow heat to escape faster...i noticed a 5-degree climb in temps also...i took mine out!

Peace

I can almost garantee that is your problem. You have enough holes and stuff. You're fine, it's only because you watered and left the fan off. think about humidity build up when using a dome for germinating seeds or cloning. When you start adding more air the humidity dome dries up even in the same area as open plants it's completly different in a sealed container. You basically watered your plants and locked them in a humidity dome. You're good now.

BTW thanks to everyone who has gave any type of advice. I appriciate. While I was building this cabnet I never expected this problem. I'll check back tomarrow with an update. Lets hope it works.

hey that is a sweet box, no way you feel like sharing your schematics?

The box itself is 30" wide x 30" long x 48" tall. The exhaust fan is just a bathroom exhaust fan. It 's something like 7"x7". I cut a hole in the top for that. Then the encloseure for the fan is 10"x10"x5". The round pipe coming off the back of the fan goes through the box right into the home made filter. I got the idea for the filter from this link below.

https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html#post1206694

The door I just made a full 30"x48" side. I nailed it on. I then cut a hole in that, that was 44"x24". The reason I did this is I wanted a full peice and nothing peice togther for each wall. Now the door itself meassures 45"x25". It over laps the opening by a half an inch all the way around. I put a 3/4" x 1 1/2" peice of wood all the way around the edge of the door so it would keep the door flat and make it alittle more stable and not floppy. Just used some cheap door hinges to mount it. Used one of those magnet thingys to hold it shut.

Thats about it. I can take some better pictures of the full cabnet if you or anyone else wants. i know I didcn't really take good full pictures of the cabnet.

Here's a better picture of the whole cabnet for you guys who like it. I gave the basic messurments a couple posts back for anyone wanting to build it. There's pictures of the filter in post#1 for that. I took a picture of the fan itself inside the cabnet too. I can take more pictures for anyone wanting to see something on it.

Its simple condesation. Its a basic part of growing. the plants cool and release thier moisture thats why you have to have fans inside moving the air 24 hours a day. If no co2 then you have to have fresh air being brought into the box and stale air going out of the box. You will also need a dehumidifer in the box or sucking the air out of the box. You used wood so you will also need to make sure you used a wood sealer or moisture preventative primer like Kilz or your gonna got rot on the wood and on your plants as the wood will hold moisture. cant just build a wood box and grow in it as you have to also compensate for the moisture and temp flux or your done before you start.

first picture, is that glowing light coming from behind the door? if its coming out, you could have light coming in. Light leaks very bad....if you take some of the same wood, cut a 4-5inch strip and put it on the inside cab ledge of opening....the door when closed will sit flush and light will be blocked

Peace

Yes thats a bit of light leaking out. No big deal. The cabnet is actually in my work shop which is walled in, in my basment. No one goes in there or no lights on in there till I go in there to check on things. Which isn't till about 10am or latter in the morning. Which is why I chose that time. I have never even had my plants in an enclosed space like this before. I was just growing out in the open in my work shop down there till the smell got out of control. But light leaks are not a problem for me. The only reason for this box is to control the smell. One reason i wanted to keep negitive pressure in the box was because of any leaks in it so smell wouldn't come out. Which is working so far. Just ran into the water issue.

I think ur problem is just transpiration. plants transpire more with increased temps, light intensity, water suppyly and size. Only 1% of all water a plant absorbs is used in photosynthesis. The rest is lost through transpiration.

OK lights just came on. I left the fan running all night. Everything is ok now. No rain forrest this morning. I guess I should have left the fan on 24/7 from the get go.

Thanks again to everyone for helping out.

if the temperature is 85F, humidity should not be higher than 62%

if the temperature is 80F, humidity should not be higher than 58%

If the temperature is 75F, humidity should not be higher than 53%

If the temperature is 70F, humidity should not be higher than 47%

the rule of thumb seems to be a target temp of 80F should have just under 60% humidity.

Glad to hear. Like I said you basially built a humidity dome. Glad it all worked out for you.
