I could have sworn that I was subscribed to this, but I guess not.

Hope the clones pull through, which I'm sure they will!!!bongsmilie

So after about a week and a half's time... roots have exploded from 3 of the clones. They could go no longer without nutrients, so i mixed up a gallon of distilled water with seedling strength Flora series... i know what i said about wanting to go organic and FloraNova... its just well... i know flora series, and trust it at a seedling level. So maybe i'll flower with the FloraNova.

So at any rate... this is how I mixed them...

Haha i thought it was pretty clever, straight into the jug with an airstone to help mix it up..

Here are the roots yesterday...

and here they all are up top...

the rooted clones are on the left...
and up close...

these here are the yet to be rooted cuttings (and probably won't)

and here are the roots today...

best i can tell the roots+nutrients+fresh water... should be only about a week before i put them under 24 hour dark and then flower the young ladies.

Good Job Bro!!!

Make sure they have some nice new growth before you switch...

Give them a chance to pick themselves up a little...

But yeah man... good job!

thank you sir may i have another! yeah im impressed myself by the root development. once they are well submerged in the res, if the other 3 not so rooted cuttings havent caught up, i'm tossing them.

don't be afraid to clone, my first go at it, and i didn't use rooting hormone. i say that goes to show how much easier it is than one would think.

thanks gypsy! appreciate the love. couldn't have done it without your help.
well i could have, but your advice is always appreciated.

i plan on letting veg a bit, hoping for at least another node of growth before i switch to flower.

what happens to a not so rooted cutting when you expose it to 1/4 strength nutrient solution?? the rooted clones couldn't wait, and neither could i, so 3 not so rooted are well.. like i said.. i'm done rambling...

thoughts anyone??

Once they have roots (even if just a little bit) they can handle nutes just fine...

Clones are not like seedlings...

Mine, on the day I see the FIRST root, go from tap water to 1400ppm...

But you wanna make sure you have roots first..

I have seen that if you start feeding nutes early, the roots take longer to show...

Are you flowering these right on the AG?

I would consider some LST like I did on my 1st AG grow, so you could keep the light on the lowest setting all the way to the end...

I think i have a rough light and feeding schedule worked out..
(After this current tank has run its course)

FloraNova Products

1st week - 50/50 Grow/Bloom Transition Strength (24/0)

2nd week - Full Bloom with Floralicious Grow micronutrients
(1 day 24 hour dark) (begin 12/12)

3rd week - Full Bloom with Floralicious Bloom micronutrients (12/12)

continue third week till harvest date
then two week flush in pH'd spring water
i used it for seedlings, and they seem to get what they need from that, and i can avoid nutrient use... preserve taste by not stressing as much before harvest

any thoughts on the flush??
any thoughts on the schedule as a whole??

maybe questions?

:peace: and :hump:

Wuddup man? Just checkin out the AG grow, and your off to a good start with this shit here dude, but listen to Gypsy for sure, he knows what hes talkin about with the AG. His 1st AG run was friggin masterful to say the least, lol.

As for your clones man, even if you can fenangle some other unit to put them in for a couple days to let them root up, they CAN be saved, and you can flower your rooted clones at the same time. It doesn't have to be fancy as i've learned, it just has to work. I once hung a cutting off the lip of a 1 gallon jug of water and forgot about it for 3 wks. When i finally remembered it was there, it had a fuckin tangled afro of roots, and although the top growth was poor, as soon as i put it into my cloner it turned into a beast. Wierd things, clones are dude. But you'll pull them through.

Good luck man,

-K1.

I got a question Shack. Why do your cuttings look like little palm trees? Is it because they're trying to grow roots?

haha good question. i realized after doing so i could have done this differently. instead of snipping my clones down along the branch, i got greedy and went for the tops. i had several branches i intended on pruning off my plant anyhow. so i reserved the tops of each branch for clones. hence the growth looks the way it does. instead of just two stems and two leaves... that makes sense right? i felt like i made sense.

i'm really not TOO concerned about the other 3 unrooted cuttings.. if they root they root, if not well... lesson learned. i still have a massive harvest (hopefully) coming from other grow. this is more just an experiment, and 50% success rate first time out is pretty damn good,, at least in my book. i didn't even expect one!

once these flower i have plans for an indica multi strain 12/12 from seed. just need the space in the AG.

haha yeah you should have seen me in there when i spotted roots... there was barely a nub of root coming out of each and i was shouting "HEY HONEY!! THEY'VE ROOTED!!! COME CHECK THIS OUT!!!" of course she only thought it was kinda cool. women man... they think your hobbies are silly, then you harvest and all they wanna do is smoke your shit hahaha.

thanks for the love. keep checking back, next few weeks should be pretty sweet.

by the way, that main taproot in the 2nd clone shown on the last pagee (the one in the middle of the 3 pics) that root is now about an inch longer and twice as hairy... this AG rocks my socks when it comes to cloning i've decided. i may clone again and use rooting hormone for more success.

I see... so basically don't take cuttings from the top?

oooo misinterpretation.. i like the way i did it. especially since i plan to flower like lollipops very soon. these sativas should cola up nice a fat. i can't say to not do it, and to take cuttings along the branch because thats not the way i did it, and have no experience with it. personally, i like the way i did it. i think i should have a pretty decent yield from these little baby clones. partly because the way i took the cuttings.

for more/better info on cuttings and cloning, read the GrowFAQ should help you alot if its something you intend to do. i read each bit about cloning a few 100 times before getting the balls to try it.

hope that helps!

lol thats some funny shit. Congrats in your success with the clones Shack-a-lack. The AG really does seem like a pretty ideal cloner.

I will wait and see how your clones do and decide from there :hump:
i'll probably get some photos up later of the kids, they seem to be taking to the nutrients VERY well, new growth coming in on the 3 rooted clones looks healthy. also the other 3 appear to be shooting out some MICRO roots, tiny little white nubs here and there. their leaves are looking a little rough so i return the "alien incubator cups" and sprayed each one to add some humidity to the party. i might be looking at 100% rooted!! (although 50% won't be as strong as the other :? )

i'll also say this, the rooted clones, they uh... haha they grow funny!! the leaves are twisting and growing all sorts of crazy ways. but i guess your limbs would like kinda funny if they were on the verge of death and suddenly your heart started working again and it had to make sense of your practically dead limbs.

i guess i'm going to HAVE to put pics up later for this to make sense. haha
