Alge in the Res?

I seem to be having a problem with alge in the res or im not pumping enough air through the tank to keep the water stired enough and the nuts are settling. I am using Dyna-Grow so it is a green tint so it kinda hard to tell the difference. I have a Aqua Culture 5-15 gal 1200ccc per min air pump with a 10 gal defuser. There is only 4 gal. of water in the res. Any thoughts or sugestions.

I did notice that when I cleaned it was a little slimy. The container is light prof in the since that no natural light enters. The container is a light color letting in a dim light. I didnt think that would be enough for a mold growth. I havent seen the roots yet do to the fact they havent cleared the nets yet.

Always,

how much air are you actually getting in there? My tubs always have constant rolling water and I make sure all openings that could allow light in are completely covered, even the rockwool that my plants are growing out of. Use paper plates with small openings in them to cover your rockwool and net pots. I also do not let water stay in my reservoir more than 7 days at a time. Every Sunday I clean, rinse, and replenish with new water and fres nutrients. I do that even if they don't need it. I have never had an algae or chemical problem doing it this way. May cost a little more in nutrients, but my S(*& is legit...;-)

I hear that..... Do you think the little light coming though the plastic could be causing that. The air is not to bad I do think it could be a little better though. Tell me what you think.

Simple fix. make sure ur rez is under 70 degrees at all times. And make sure its light proof. Do these 2 things and ul be set . Also stuff like voodoo juice, pythoff, or h2o2 really helps just make sure u pick one. Not all at the same time. Happy Growing

sutra is dead on, keep the temps down, spray the rez or insulate it, you can also use 3% h2o2 at 3teaspoons per gallon, that will clear up and prevent algea

yep these guys are right, make sure no light can reach the inside of that reservoir. What color is your tub? I have the blue ones from Stealth Hydro and I just cover the tops and they work great!!

CHANGE THE RES MORE OFTEN !!! thats a proven way. I use a shower with dawn, then I use clorox wipes in the hard to get spots, put in the hot shower water, dry it, then filtered ph adjusted water. Did it today joy joy
