my system works just like the stealth hydro system... save a few bucks making the system yourself... extremely easy.. the water pump pumps nutes and water and air to the roots of the plants. all i used to germ these beauties was some rockwool and i just put the seed in the rockwool and then soaked the cube in water and few nutes and pop they went out of the rockwool in 2-3 days... then i would just fill the net pots with the rockwool in the center so there are hydroton under on the sides and ontop of the rockwool... i leave my water pump on 24/7 cause my airstones make so much bubbles the water pump sucks up the bubbles and keeps the roots from drowning... i change the res every two weeks...

Awsome thanks. I kept thinking to myself that they were both air pumps. Now i feel like a retard....LOL... Thanks
I love this shit..HAHA

Bro, when i first got started growing.........it took me two weeks to figure out how to assemble the Clamp Reflectors for the light bulbs, and I asked a thousand dumber questions.

Hey Purpdaddy, Roseman or anyone who can help. I am currently using the SH DWC Buckets that I have changed into bubblers. Each system is separate, no central resivoir. My isssue is I am getting huge ph drifts throughout the day. This is the first time I have started from seed in this system. The seedlings don't look quite ready yet for nutes so I am just using ph'd water. I am using city water that has a starting ph of 7.5, (so using the SH PH Down) i bring it to 5.8 and a temp of about 70 degrees figuring that light heat and pumps will naturally bring it to about 75-77 degrees (which it does). Now by the end of the day the PH of the water has drifted back to it's normal out of the tap ph or a little higher (7.5-8.0). Temp inside my tent stays at 80 degree with 28% humidity. Anyone have any insight as to why my ph drifts so much throughout the day....? Please Help!
Thanks

I don't know WHY, but here are a few ideas on fixing it.
pH Stablization

The pH should not vary more than .5 to .7 everyday, and if it does flucuate alot more up OR down daily, something is wrong.
First, ask yourself, what is going into the tank? Water, Nutes, pH UP and Down should be it. Adding anything else, WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM, is not the wisest thing to do. (Yes, sometimes some small amount of peroxide or hydrozyme might be needed, but I've done 7 grows without it.)
And if you are making NUTE SOUP, ( a nute and supplement mix) I can not advise you about your pH.

Except for the very first time you add the water to the tank, You should pH balance your water FIRST, everytime, outside of the tank, then add the nutes, pH balance it again, then add it to the tank. It should not go up more than .5 within one day or 1.0 in two days.
If it does go up more in one day or two days, you got to do something to stablize it. After the first two or 3 weeks pass, and the plants are drinking a gallon a day, you can add one gallon back that is over adjusted or over compensated, to get it back down. FOR EXAMPLE, If the tank is reading 7.2, then add one gallon of 6.0, and you'll get it down SOME, without it being too drastic.
DRASTIC pH CHANGES WITHIN 24 HOURS ARE VERY DANGEROUS.

OR
Try adding a lump of charcoal or two tied in a panty hose or nylon stocking to the tank.

Go to Walmart or PetSmart to the Aquarium Dept, next to the fish food, filters and additives and sea salts, and get those little packages of Ammonia Control absorbant packets. They look like little sponges in a wrapper. I can not remember what they are called, but they work great to sTAbalize the pH. Or get the Ammonia control pellets and add a few to the tank.

Get everything in your tank like you want it, (except the roots or plants,) and add two heaping tablespoons of baking soda to a gallon of water,Stir it good, then add it to the tank. Wait ten or 15 minutes, then pH adjust it again. Then it should stay stablized until the next Drain and Replinish.

I asked my Sunday School Class what they thought of your DIY system, and here is the response:

i had that problem when i used the petsmart version of pH UP & DOWN. The acidic pH solution was very weak and changed daily. I now have General Hydroponics pH acidic and my pH doesnt fluctuate EVER. strong stuff.

Hey I still use my SH bubbleponics unit. The next one I built myself, after my first grow and I knew what the hell I was doing. I asked Roseman questions over and over and read over and over and still misse alot and learned alot. The StealthHydro kit is great. Nothing wrong with it at all. If you are a new at growing and want a good starting point, this is it. Now, they are expensive. But in todays society, we pay for convenience. That is just the bottom line.

A couple of questions in regards with bubbleponics.

1. When beginning from a seed inside a growing medium do you have the water hose going directly into something like rockwool or do you recommend germinating ouside the box then transplanting (this being my first grow attempt). I know you've mentioned you can grow right from seed so I didn't know if this was a high difficulty in sprouting.

2. Seeing as I've been to several places and no one seems to know what I'm talking about in regards to the plastic pot that you grow in so I've decided to just purchase some thick plasic cups from target and going to cut them like the ones your using. They are a little larger in depth. Is this going to be a problem. How far should the potting planters be inside the resivour and do I use a lot of Vermiculite or something equal at the bottom? I'm using a 10 gallon tote. Cutting for four pots. I believe if I'm going by your calculations correctly that I should have 8 gallons of nuts/water? I liked the lowrider seed spec's but do you have any "favorites" or information on which seeds thrive best in this situation.

3. Someone mentioned in another post that I seen you comment on about "flushing the roots". Is this a good idea? And did this person use or you recommend using regular tap water or pH ballanced water? He wasn't specific on his method.

4. Are the huge water machine water jugs that are sold at hardware stores a good source of water to use?

5. I know your a huge fan of CLF's and I'm torn between using a:
33,000 lumens 250 watt HSP system (bulb, lamp, ballast)
or
A Lamp with four 2 Foot T5 bulbs 2 warm 2 cool. But this confuses me a little in HTG's More Information area.
**High Output bulbs have extremely high lumen per watt rating - 5,000 lumens per bulb! This system emits an incredible 10,000 lumens!**

So having 4 CFL's wouldn't I have 20,000 lumens?

Either system that I purchase I will be using for growth and flowering.

I'm concerned with having a grow space of 2 x 3 x 5 and having heat issues with the 250 HPS.
I have a 4" adjustable fan 6" above eye level with the tote. I plan on installing a vent in the southeast roof and purchasing a 4" inline fan and carbon filter again, from HTS.
Will it be alright (smell wise) if I have the inline fan directly connected to the roof connected to the carbon filter? Or should I use flexable venting tubes to bring it to my attic access and connect the carbon filter up there?

6. Now I'm new to nutrients information. I know there is three things you have to be aware of pH, PPF (I think its called) and one other. Can you direct me to more information about nutrients and the other 3 things?

I've read so much with people saying "this is better then that" but I know you have first hand experience with this system so I'm sorry I'm making you my big brother lol. But I really do appreciate the advice you've given me so far. Saved me a lot of time and frustration.

I know you've mentioned you can grow right from seed so I didn't know if this was a high difficulty in sprouting.

It is easier, the first grow, to start the seed in the rockwool cube, that is in hydroton rocks, in the grow cups. But you also need to start one or two in a wet papertowel to repalce the DUDS and runts. When you start in the cube, you do have the water flowing to the cube to keep it wet.

Transplanting a new sprout is a delicate procedure, or the root will break off.

2. Seeing as I've been to several places and no one seems to know what I'm talking about in regards to the plastic pot that you grow in so I've decided to just purchase some thick plasic cups from target and going to cut them like the ones your using. The Hydroponic Grow cups are very easy to find on the Internet, but not at stores, unelss it is a Hydroponic store. I have seem plastic and styrafoam cups used, with hundreds of slits cut in them with a razor, and it does not work well, but it will work.
Let me know if you can order from the Internet.

How far should the potting planters be inside the resivour
They sit in the lid, with roots dangling in an two or three inch air pocket, above the water line.

and do I use a lot of Vermiculite or something equal at the bottom?

VErmiculite is NO NO in Hydro, or bubbleponics. Too fine for the water. Can you get Rockwool and hydroton? If so, they will have the grow cups sometimes called grow baskets.

Yes, Right.

I liked the lowrider seed spec's but do you have any "favorites" or information on which seeds thrive best in this situation.

Any Indica will do. Lowryder is much faster but much smaller too.

3. Someone mentioned in another post that I seen you comment on about "flushing the roots". Is this a good idea? And did this person use or you recommend using regular tap water or pH ballanced water? He wasn't specific on his method.

I don;t understnad that question.

4. Are the huge water machine water jugs that are sold at hardware stores a good source of water to use?

You can use any clean water, even city tap water.

5. I know your a huge fan of CLF's and I'm torn between using a:
33,000 lumens 250 watt HSP system (bulb, lamp, ballast)
or

IF you can and are going to VENT the HEAT out, by all means use HID lights.

6. Now I'm new to nutrients information. I know there is three things you have to be aware of pH, PPF (I think its called) and one other. Can you direct me to more information about nutrients and the other 3 things?

pH , Temps and ppm, IF you use a ppm meter.

FoxFarm is a very popular nute.

I've read so much with people saying "this is better then that" but I know you have first hand experience with this system so I'm sorry I'm making you my big brother lol. But I really do appreciate the advice you've given me so far. Saved me a lot of time and frustration.

Let me know if you can order off internet and I'll give you a link to some grow cups and rocks.

Yeah, I can. The question that I had asked earlier is. Someone had a grow journal. They were talking about the roots getting yucky so they flushed out the roots in their bathroom tub to clean them I imagine.

I have rinsed my roots before. I have a spray nozzle attached to my shower now so I can clean out all of my buckets either, and I also use Humus Acid which is nasty black so the roots get real real dark. In the past, I have rinsed them. However, they do just fine brown unless they look like they have some ick on them, I wouldn't worry about it.

another good source for supplies is htgsupply.com.... but i just used walmart home depot and a hydro store.... i also say if in america to use cfl's or even LEDs cause there are no heat signatures like hps hid MH lights.... stealth grows just work better on cfl my opinion its easier to control temp levels
