You want the cfls that look "white" in color when you turn them on for vegetative growth. Also known as "daylight" or "6500k". The cfls that look more "red" are the "soft white" or "warm white" bulbs and are 2700K. These are the bulbs you use for 12/12 light cycle called "Flowering."

No brand to look for in particular you just want either 8 23 watters or 4 42 watters. Its also a good idea to get the Y adapters so you can put two lights on one socket as well as get a better angle with your light.

I don't know what cfl's you got that are 23 watts and 110 lumens...I've got 23 watters from lowes and they are 1700 lumens.

Daylight spectrum cfl's are sufficient for vegging, but what you have is probably just a waste.

I'd use your 600w hps...that thing is probably rated for 60,000+ lumens...

600w pushes out 95000 lumens
