A few weeks ago I bought a 00 capsule filler, some empty gel caps, and a tamper. So far I have made 3 batches. It seems every batch has somehow gotten more time consuming than the one before it. My main problem is that the gel caps get very soft and don't want to go back together. I didn't have this trouble the first time, only the last two.
My first batch I did not use any corn starch to thicken my bud/coconut oil mixture. I used too much oil, and ended up with a very runny mix.
The second and third times, I used corn starch to thicken the mix to more of a paste. The second batch was done while the oil was still a little warm, so I figured that's why they got so soft. But the third batch was only about 80F, and still did the same thing.
Does corn starch dissolve gelatin? Any suggestions? Everything goes smoothly until I go to put the tops back on the capsules. It seems like they just get slightly out of shape, and they just turn to mush while I'm capping them. +rep for any help. This is getting pretty frustrating.
