1st big grow would love input

Hey, Just another noob starting her first real grow. Good friend of mine told me about this site and said it would be a great place for help.

I have loads and loads of questions but ill get to them later after i search the site for the answers. No need to ask if i can just find.

So here is my set up.
I have 5 plants that are at 6wks of age. I started them in regular dirt from my good old back yard LoL. didnt do so well so i went ahead and transplanted them.

Anyways here is what im working with.

GrowRoom- 2x3x3
Soil - 1/2Perlite nd 1/2 peat moss
Lighting- Two 75w Florescent grow lights (tube ones)
Fan
Nutes- 26-8-16 but i do 1/4 the recommended serving.

Right now im looking into getting some CFL's but im not sure how many i will need for the grow space i have.
I would love comments and really appreciate suggestions. Thanks!!!

they look like there fairing quite well..and welcome..

cfls yes..walmart carries cord sets for worklamps that take cfl bulbs..then u can go to home depot or lowes and by Y splitters for the sockets..then 26w cfl..two per cord.. maybe 2-3 cords and 4-6 bulbs intially..double that for flower. maybe a cfl expert can chime in

very nice for your first grow =) welcome to the forums

your plants look healthy but the stalks look a little thin, if you have an oscillating fan let it blow on your plants it will strengthen the stems.

you can probly work your way to 1/2 strength with the nutes but don't go over 3/4 strength since those are pretty high nitrogen levels. And when you feed, always water enough that runoff drains out the bottom of the pots to prevent salt buildup.

Yeah more more more light, I'm always fighting that battle, have too many bills and not enuf dollars. Economy is killing us all.
I hear loads of CFL talk, I dunno if they are better than tube, looking into it, but Im going to add some anyways myself.
A all around good mix would help more than hurt at any rate.

If you got the money go for the cheapest 150w hps you can find, get a dual spectrum bulb for it, it will pay you in better yields tighter buds and your crop will be finished earlier than with cfls. Oh! And welcome to RIU

Im actually going to head to walmart here in a few to see how much i will need to be spending. I went and looked up some HPS lights but i dont have the money for that. I only have about 20 bucks a week to spend on the side.
Ill keep everyone up to date with what i end up buying.

I'm wanting HPS VERY VERY VERY bad, I'm afraid of heat issues then, I am going to route a ac vent to that room it is easy but I will have to buy yet more stuff to support that so I gotta get that ready first.

Im selling a bunch of my furniture and stuff so I should have a better budget soon, we were wanting to move and just save our money to buy all new stuff in a few years. Id rather just gro n smoke right now.

This place is the most warm fourm I've seen, very little flamming, it's nice to see that some people can get along. Everyone seems to step on me (other than my wife and in here).

Yeah Giz get a fan going, that's how mine stay stong, I shouldn't have to tie them down, I use 2 fans, 1 blows behind aounrd the back wall and the other in from outside the closet near the ac vent.

I got some nice bud tonite with some seeds.

Good good so far. Ever since i put the lights in they seem a lot happier. There leafs are all spread out almost as if they are saying "FINALLY MORE LIGHT YAY!!! "

LoL wish i had stuff to sell.AND SMOKE! But i cant. instead of buying weed for the last 2 weeks i saved my money to buy things for my grow room. Mom came by today though and gave me a nice joint to smoke. Nothing crazy but still good enough.

I started mine at 8 weeks but they were over a foot tall at the time.
Remember I'm a noob grower but everyone told me 4-6 weeks and after that basically wheneer you want.

BUT the longer you veg the sweeter the gonja.
I'd wait, but if your like me and in a hurry I def fell ya.
I have another set down that are a month old and Im about to go 12/12 on their ass too (they are in a small hydro fram right now, moving them to buckets.

Well if you were near bye u could share a blunt with the wife n me.
We dont sell right now, just toke, gonna sell from what I gro, you cant get anything that good around here. its usually compressed commerical/gorilla grown shit.

Hi, here is my two cents worth. One thing you need to think about is that the plants are going to at least double in height while they are flowering. You seem to be doing pretty good for the first grow. I started in a 2x6x8 closet growing in dirt with four 26 watt cfls and got some smoke from it. Slow but sure, I kept investing the money I was saving not buying smoke and bought more and more equipment. It took over a year and now I use the cfls in the closet for clones and vegging and flower in the spare 7x11x8 bedroom under 1400 watts of HPS lights. I built my hydro setup a couple of months ago and by fall should be harvesting 8-10 ounces a month. So you dont need to get in a hurry, just let your setup grow along with your experience. yeah i build my setup more and more every week. Next grow will get atleast 2 400watt HPS
Ive made plenty of mistakes on the way
I cant wait to see all the stuff Ive gotten in a year

cfl's are def the way to go. for now, you can hit up your local home depot, get a 300 watt equivalent cfl, which should supply efficient light for all 5 plants. when you start flowering, you might want 1 per plant. they are 15 dollars a piece. you can also get sweet clamp lights at home depot for them.

you might want to start flowering early if you are working in limited space, during flowering they will usually double in height.

Hey LadyGizmo,

Nice job! In my opinion, you should flower when your plant tells you it's ready to flower (IF you have the head room, remembering that it will grow 2-3 times it's current size in flowering).

Your plant will let you know it's ready when you start getting alternating nodes and/or pre-flowers.
