Probally one of my favorite books of all time is 20,000 leagues under the sea by jules verne.... Its a great read

Most Hunter Thompson are good cause of his ability to make just about anything interesting, some of his books are too political to enjoy stoned but for the most part gonzo journalism is great reading

Count of Monte Cristo - Dumas
Three Musketeers - Dumas
The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns - Same author, can't remember the name.

The druggies bibles

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- Hunter S. Thompson

Naked Lunch, or Junkie- William S. Burroughs

Doors of Perception- Aldous Huxley, or brave new world if you like Sci Fi

If you do get naked lunch, get the special new addition. It has a diary in the back with Burroughs's experience with almost every drug on the planet

i second that list.

"on the road" has always brought me joy.

"the electric kool-aid acid test" if you want to learn some history.

i've been reading a copy of the divine comedy, dante's infero etc. i can only seem to get into it when i'm stoned, the language is a killer.

Let's see.

Fear and loathing in Las Vegas - hunter S thompson

Angels and demons, the davinci code

Anything from the Vampire chronicles - Anne Rice

Shattering Glass - Gale Giles

Im not a big reader but the books written by Aussie Toe cutter/standover man Mark Chopper Read are a very interesting read. Well worth checking out if you like to read about stories from the criminal world from the eyes of one of the hardest men around.

Heres a link to his books on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Chopper-Mark-Brandon-Read/dp/1904034144

You can call him a rat or whatever because it may be true but he knows how to tell a good story so its worth a read.

Heres just a few of the many great Chopper Read quotes:

"Apart from Irish whiskey, good cigars, Pontiac motor cars, and a pistol grip, what I love most is kidnapping smart-arse gangsters and taking their money.'' '

''So I shot Nick the Greek and burned his house down? So what? If you met him, you'd want to burn his house down too...''

''To the human filth I have bashed, belted, iron-barred, axed, shot, stabbed, knee-capped, set on fire and driven to their graves, I can only quote from the motto of the French Foreign Legion- Je Ne Regrette Rien!!!'' = "No, I regret nothing"

"I haven't shot anybody since 1992, and even then I didn't do it,"

''I'm just a bloody normal bloke. A normal bloke who likes a bit of torture.''

''Look. The bloke's been me best mate since 1975. We've had our fallouts from time to time, it's no big deal. Ya know, it's like... if ya mum stabs ya, whaddya do? Ya don't get upset. Ya don't get angry, ya go, "Shit, mum's stabbed me, I better get off to the hospital."

"Cannery Row" by Steinbeck is an excellent choice
"Atlas Shrugged" by Ann Rand
And a very good fictional book is Steven King's "The Stand" - Make sure to get the long hard back version, not the paperback

Anything by farley mowat. And no birds sang is my favourite.

Band of brothers-Stephen e. Ambrose.

Life of Pi is great. Though, as to relating to the book...well, i've never been in that situation before. lol.

The Lord Of The Rings ~ J.R.R. Tolkein (Far better than the movies! Actually, it's a pretty different story even. Good read, long book.)
