EliteGenetics "Sour Chem" grow log by MDGCMD

Alright fellas I got something special in the mail today. One of the few times that I am happy to check the mail LOL. So here I am with a 10 pack of Sour Chem by EliteGenetics. I got a 25.00 discount on the 10 pack and I am only gonna grow out 4 this time around. With any luck I will get at least two females. I will keep one as a momma which will be the best of ones that germinate and become female. Any of the other females I get will go right into the flowering chamber. So I wasted no time and 4 are germinating in rockwool starter cubes. I had them soaking all night and now they are in the veg chamber that I put together the other day. I still need to make mprovements on the chamber but for a grand total of about 50.00 I think it came out great.

So in a few days hopefully we will see the start of this journal. I will try and update it daily for my own detailed log. The rest of you are welcome to join me on this little endeavor, and your comments are welcome of course.

I have two separate chambers for flower and veg. I just put the veg chamber together and am currently using CFL's till the money is better and can upgrade the light and ventilation. The flower cabinet is great though, I have a 400w CMH and a 4" Vortex fan w/ elf carbon scrubber. So to answer your question no the CFL's are just temporary until I can upgrade. Maybe I will just add more CFL's to the veg chamber and just upgrade the ventilation... that sounds like a better idea I think. Right now there really in no ventilation at all but I have a plan to fix that. I am really not 100% prepared for this veg grow but I really have little choice in the matter because I accidentally killed my perfectly healthy rooted clones. I let them dry out one night while I was at work so I need these seeds to keep the supply coming. I will be harvesting in less than a month so I can sell a little bit as much as I would hate to do that, but I will need the cash. When that time comes I will finish what ever upgrades that I need for the veg chamber.

Alright today I took a peek in and boy was I happy with what I saw. They popped out of their shells. Then I checked again a few hours later and well you can see what they look like from the pics. Right now they are in full spread with the little leaves totally exposed. These are really fast growing plants. It is late so I will post further update tomorrow.

Well I have family over for the past week and the whole next week. Because of that I lost 2 of the seedlings to heat, and dehydration. My veg chamber is still not ready 100% and they are making very hard to finish it up. I can't even post daily because of these people so updates are minimum. I have some pictures but nothing fancy is going on right now so I will hold off for right now. I really need to focus and pay more attention to them. I just worry that I will raise to many eyebrows to what is going on.

I did get around to setting up regular feeding via DWC. I noticed that the roots came through the RW starters so capillary action should take place well enough to feed/water the seedlings. Of the 2 I have left with fingers crossed I will get both females. They were less vigorous and from my personal experience the most vigorous ones tend to be males. Lets hope that this is the case here as well. I have terrible luck with the RW started drying out due to lack of attention. I need to remind myself to check them every chance I get, or they will not last to maturity. I wish I had a mini E&F system instead of a DWC. Not that DWC is bad but I think that it is slightly more difficult to water seedlings in RW without saturating the cubes.

Sorry if I do not add pics daily. I am having trouble checking on them on a regular basis, and the camera is at the hospital with my GF. I am really trying to keep track of what is going on as often as I can. I want to be able to log what I do and how much nutrients I use each res change etc... I paid a lot for these beans and I do not want to lose track of what ever I think I may need to recall. I will make sure to get pics up very soon and I will also add pics of the plant I am about chop any day.

Anyway the two small ones are alive and great. I set up a cooling system so they should be alright till I can put them in the flowering cabinet.I won't flower them it's just that the flowering plant will be done soon, and it is a fully setup box. I need to change the carbon out of the filter very very soon. I can start to smell the big one when I walk in the BR. The calyx's are still swelling and they look like they are ready to pop.

Thanks for checking out the journal as boring as it is ATM. I will update pics soon.

Alright so here is the update. they are dead, only 4 of them and root rot was the issue. The water gets to warm and they dies. I am not upset, because I have 200.00 it invest in getting my veg/momma chamber all setup. I will start over when I am more prepared.

daaaaaaam! sorry to hear that! 8 out of 10 of my kings kushes died but ya just gotta suck it up and grow again!
