callin' all cfl stealth growers

As far as getting dense nugs with CFL, It's Not That Difficult.
On only my 3rd grow I was able to produce nugs that are just as dense as most HPS and Metal Halid. Mind you depending on the strain and where the plant is in my grow room I still get a few lighter nugs in my yield. Steadmanclan, you must not have seen many CFL grows in person, cause there is tons of CFL growers on here growing dense nugs. But honestly I;ll smoke any density of bud at the end of the day as long as it's decent smoke.

it does not really mather if you are growing with many, many cfls or just with a one hps.if you know what your doing you can archive just so much with just a few CFL lights and some other stuff(couple of fans, controlled environment-humidity, temps, right ph and so......)

so keep those cfls on, and those sweet marijuana plants growing....

Dude, If you ever made a bird house in wood shop, making a stealth box will be 10 times easier and you will need less tools. any where you can put lights and ventilation can be use as a stealth box. Im sure my comment was probably no help, im pretty baked .

i still have alot better results with one bulb than i could ever get with 100 cfl's.

ive never seen a cfl grow a bud that was actually dense after it was cured. my hps nugs are hard and sticky
There is a dingle berry caught in my ass hair that you can munch on if you're hungry.:sleep:

But really, don't knock CFL growing. People go with CFL for lots of reasons and if you know what you're doing, CFL grows can produce buds just as dense, and just as good as HPS.

Fellow CFL growers - Don't have pics to put up just yet but I'll add some eventually. My CFL grow is doing nicely as usual. Keep it real.

So bud density is your measure of success huh?
Why then is the agricultural industry not scrabbling around trying to get denser fruit or
flowers? I've never heard of dense roses or strawberries so why should it be correct when growing MJ? Surely a dense lettuce is a cauliflower, not a super-lettuce :)
I'm not in US but I hear that the densest bud there is called brickweed and it's the cheapest crap in town. Please explain why you think dense is good when nobody else seems to agree except others who grow under street lamps.
Even hps growers usually start plants under cfl and then add cfls to their flowering rooms ffs!
Personally I'm more concerned with potency and flavour than how compact my bud is.
There's much research done by NASA with regard to growing indoors. I never saw them using hps. They seem to like cfl and led just fine but don't go near sodium. I suspect it's because the distance between a 1000w hps and the canopy has to be a couple of feet and a cfl grow can get a complete extra harvest in that wasted area.
If you can show any evidence that bud density bears any relation to potency or flavour then please post it. In the meantime I'll stick with what I've got thanks.

WELL PUT!! :hump: Also, brickweed is a name given to shitty reggie weed that has been compressed by the grower/dealer for easier transport and measuring, which gives it its rock hard density. Ive liteally gotten oz. that looked like the corner of a desk.
In fact, most commercial weed even good mids are compressed this way(at least in the US).

Well Steadmanclan seemed to be talking about the heavy dense buds he gets and he attributed it to his HPS bulb. I don't think he was aiming to grow brickweed, a term I usually associate with large scale outdoor which is packed and sold very dense.

Clearly he just dropped by to say the usual CFL is crap, get an HPS. Well some of the best bud I have smoked has been from small CFL grows and like v12 said, it's a quality smoke we're after.

Hey, I know HPS is great, but not everyone has a spare garage or basement or overall desire for a huge grow setup. Here's my space-saving, stealth CFL grow at 37 days in.. likely using lower total wattage than a HPS grow would..

I think my CFL's are doing juust fine..

Here ya go CFL bashers!! lol... It is possible to grow nice buds with these bulbs if you know what your doing.

Yeah, its just two plants under a couple of 68 watt florescents but the trichomes are plentiful. Its a really low tech setup but pretty effective and it takes just a fraction of a closet.
White Walls reflect and with the angle of the flos, no part of the plant is more than 3 or 4 inches away from the light. I put the plants on top of cans so that they were in the sweetspot (the middle 2 foot of the flos). The only cost I had for this grow was to buy two florescent fixtures and bulbs and they came to $13.76 cents
I know I could buy a little hps or mh but Im a student and I have practically no money at all. And I had to leave these flos alone quite a bit and have the door closed. There was practically no heat buildup at all so I could completely close the door. My apartment is so old and leaky I didn't even have to worry about ventilation. The pot smelled only a little and one of those little heated stickups took care of the smell completely. I know more light and better ventilation would do better but I'm pretty happy with these two so far.I'm really hoping to get 3/4 to 1 ounce combined between the two plants. The buds are surprisingly solid and very resiny so I can still hope. I figure I have 2 weeks left of budding so I hope the resin keeps coming.

Here are some lower buds. The plants don't smell much but if you wipe a little resin off the leaf, then it smells just like pine tar.

Well, I was wrong about the wattage. The right wattage is 68 per light.
I use one warm red and one cool white in each ballast. You have to be more careful with the warm reds because the plant leaf will burn if it contact the bulb. The cool whites are no problem. Even if the leave contacts the bulb for days, it doesn't burn.

Stay safe fellow tokers.

Ya cfl can be quite rewarding from the looks of it so far, but it can be a little tedious moving lights, cropping here, lst there etc all the time for good shoot coverage.

I def give props to everyone that puts the work into a good cfl grow.

actually, with the right setup the only light moving required would be to move the lights up as plants grow. Look at the pics to see my set up. 8-42 watts and 4-23 watts. But, the 4-23 are mounted on the wall horizontally, about 14-16 Inches(never took exact measurments) from the floor. They provide excelant side lighting, usually a screen is over each fixture so that plants can get really close but not burn. Only the larger fixtures are moved by using the clamp on the socket to hold the cord.

Thanks :) I've currently got 8 seedlings that I just put into soil just two days ago. Can't wait to see them poke out of the top of the soil reaching for light. I'll keep in touch!

Ya i totally understand what you mean. But its also method etc. This is the first time i have tried a cfl flower so :p right now i have to move individual groups of lights since there is no longer any area that can be tucked anywhere. Again i do know what you mean though, but what started out as a sog that quickly turned semi scrog has shown me what kind of work can also be required with cfl :p (if you see how close i have to have the bulbs you can see how raising can sometimes turn into a task :p )

(bulbs had to be grouped like - for the 26&23w and ^ for the 42's since otherwise they would not fit.)

Great pics..! Here is my setup..

For smoking stash and its my first grow.
Vegged for two weeks and now gonna flower them. I think ill need more lights soon. Just need to think where to place them. Any ideas?

Also can cfl lights tought each other? Cuz im thinking to get side lights useing powerstrips to go between the pots and sides.
Any recommendation for flowering? I started yesterday and thinking to put 8 more cfls..
