I have seen a lot of people using UVB bulbs to supplement their HPS lamps.
Is this seriously beneficial? Are any gains worth it?

there is a UVB bulb for reptiles...its a heat lamp with UVB, the UVB rays that bounce off the plants is NOT good for anyone NOT EVEN plants...so as protection the plant creates resin glands (trichs). this is why they say its important. I dont think its worth the extra heat.Ok, I was really wonering why they are so popular/important?
Do they increase quality? Yield? Both?
useful info, +rep.there is a UVB bulb for reptiles...its a heat lamp with UVB, the UVB rays that bounce off the plants is NOT good for anyone NOT EVEN plants...so as protection the plant creates resin glands (trichs). this is why they say its important. I dont think its worth the extra heat.
Peace
yeah supposedly! i believe it does produce more if ya have that capability to exhaust that heat! i thought about taking my lizards bulb and use it (i have one) BUT the wifey said no! there is other ways (myths) to create resin production BUT i have not tried any. I believe its mostly strain genetics and how strong they are. I have only grown bag seed and so far everyone is different in the trich developmentuseful info, +rep.
I think I get it now, the UVB increases resin production - so it's a quality booster.
There are other ways to stress your plants intro making more resin then exposing them to UVB radiation...
is this right?
till I get better at this, that WOULD be hermie season for bag seed growers.no prob, all usable info deserves +rep. The only other ways I know about are by giving the plant hormones to boost resin by stressing the plant; or actually stressing the plant aka breaking stems, high temperature swings, and over/under watering.
all of those ideas sound too dangerous to the overall health of the plant to make me want to use them, but hey, I'm new to this... maybe someday I'll try
