Are extension cords safe to use 24/7?

Running 7 23 watt cfls off of like 7 cords (dont ask me why my finger hurts or id explain)

They are good for 1100 watts they say. Doesnt say to not use them for extended periods of time either.

Thats 162 watts or somthing, i dont have a timer yet thats why im asking, my light schedule hasnt been perfect,

2nd week of veg btw

i left mine on 24/7 for 2 weeks on 1 extension cord and a crap splitter we use on the job sites 3x lights with 8 23watt cfls 100equiv. didnt burn anything down... im usen power strips now ofc but it worked as a temp..

yo should be straight, as long as you don`t use for extended periods past the max watt recommended. even then u could, just keep checking the cord connection and where it is pluged in with your hand, for higher then normal heat comming from it. good luck

As long as the cord isn't chewed up or anything fucked up, it should be just fine

If its commercial grade extension cords I would say no worries. Im a electrical apprentice and I can assure you that drills saws, ect that get binded ect pull more amps at one time then the lights running all day. Those thin brown ones are scary and a major cause of christmas trees burning down. Im sure the cord is only part of the problem there though a tree thats slowly drying out with lights wrapped all around it cant be good. Best way to tell is let them run a day and feel for any kind of heat on the cord. If your really worried spend a dollar and get a gfci receptacle to replace the one your currently plugging the cords into. It will trip before anything bad will happen.
