Wilted to hell

So I wake up today and my plant is wilted to all hell, then I look half a day later and it is even worse.


plant stats:
Ph: 5.6 - 6.0
Temp/res: 70 - 74
Temp/air: 75 - 80
PPM: Can't check, no ppm meter yet. I do a rez change every week.


Can any one tell what is going on with this gal?

Looks to be over or under watered. I woke up today to find the same thing going on with my 18 day old Master Kush plant. I gave her some spring water, she seemed pretty light. Im giving her a break from 24hr lighting. She is very weak and brittle, starting on her 4th set of leaves. Hope I dont loss Er

yeah, I am starting to think that maybe I just need to flush the rez. I just wish I was home right now to do it.

I just hope I can save it.

I ran DWC before and I have had a problem just like that. My water pump would fail and than buzz load for a few hours and than work again. Well that was the cause lol. Maybe check your gear. Took me a bit to figure it out because it worked half the time when I was around it..

Any one else want to take a crack at it. Although I am pretty sure the darn thing is dead anyway now. It looks worse and worse every hour that passes.


I have already flushed the rez with ph'd r/o water.

The only thing I can think of is that because I had mite problems earlier, the plants defenses were already weak, so anything could have reaped it.

Well, I found the problem.

After I declared the poor thing dead, and started to take it out of the net pot, I noticed that the roots looked ok from the outside.

However the root ball was dense, so I dug in a bit and I found root rot, lots of it.

My only guess is that because the roots where so dense, and my little fish tank air pump really isn't putting out enough bubbles that my grow took dump.

Time for a new/bigger air pump.

So what are ya gonna do now? Your not going to throw in the towel are ya? I do believe there is a way to treat this issue. Either check the faqs section on this site, wait for someone who knows to chime, or PM a hydro grower.

Oh I am not done growing, but that plant died way fast. It was dead by the time I went to bed last night, all dried up and limp .

However I Still have my Black Berry growing strong. , this time I know that I need to watch for that.

Actually I happen to have alot of smaller air pumps, I wonder if I could connect them all together to make a stronger air flow?

Damn! Now that is a pump and it should give you the air flow you need to avoid that issue again. Sorry she died.

Res. temps are probably the culprit. I had the same prob. last summer in hydro. Some strains appear to be more succeptible than oths. I pick'd up res chillers this year and everything is rockin.

I think that once I get that new air pump, my rez will stay cooler in general. If not I have a home made rez chiller that I could implement.

Air stones will add more heat from the air pump. The air pump generates a warm air and this just gets pumped into your res. Don't expect anything but a slight raise in temps.

Pythium usually takes hold in warmer water temperatures. Best way to prevent it is to keep your res. temps around 70F.

hmm. I may have to use my rez chiller after all.

It only has 1 Flaw in that it uses the air from the room it is in to chill. So, Since I have central air, I am thinking that I will modify it one more time, and make it fit over the vent. This way the colder air will chill the water even more down to hopefully to about 70.
