What, her back yard ain't a good enough view? She can keep a better eye on Russia if she simply moves there.

Interesting response, jrh. The problem is, you've failed to recognize that Palin is what would be called a Paleo-conservative, and not a NeoCon.The typical neo-con, in my book, focuses on God, guns, and gays.
They want religion to pervade politics, which is absolutely frightening to me. Palin has said that her religion is inseparable from the decisions and policies she makes. Does that mean science books must teach creationism and absurd biblical origins of the earth? Does that mean knowledge would be HIGHLY censored? Because we know she's all for censorship and will even fire librarians who disagree.
They have liberal (free, open, unregulated) stances on gun control, which I have no problem with.
And they want gay marriage and gay rights to be abolished solely because of religious issues (see point #1). Why should gays not be allowed to marry? If your justification is Biblical, then you are shoving your religion on others. If Palin believes gay marriage is wrong, then that's fine. She has religious reasons for believing this. However, to force your religion down other people's throats by changing laws is ludicrous and absolutely against our fundamentals.
So the focus on religion makes her a neo-con more than anything else. And this is not to say that all religious people are unfit to lead - just keep it to yourself. You can be a religious person and not let it invade your politics. Her judgment and high and mighty tone really bother me. More than anything else, I think Americans should fear a leader who is a religious fanatic. They are scary people.
Good post Vi.Interesting response, jrh. The problem is, you've failed to recognize that Palin is what would be called a Paleo-conservative, and not a NeoCon.
The NeoCons are actually old leftists who became disgruntled with U.S. foreign policy. They are the people running National Review. They are the Rumsfelds and GWs of the world.
Take another look at Palin and compare her views, religious and otherwise, with the Founding Fathers. Palin is more of a libertarian than anything else. In fact, she and Ron Paul have a lot in common.
What was it that's printed on our money? Oh yeah ... "In God We Trust." Again, how does Congress start each session? Oh right ... with a prayer. And what was that in the Preamble to the Bill of Rights? Oh ... something about men being endowed by The Creator with certain unalienable rights?
Vi
I don't want to get stuck in a Left vs. Right discussion, but I couldn't help but point a few things out. "In God We Trust" printed on our money? Come on, when did that first appear on US currency? 1864? Almost 100 years after the founding of this nation. Are you also going to bring up the pledge of allegiance? Officially recognized as the national pledge in 1942, later the words "under God" incorporated in 1954.What was it that's printed on our money? Oh yeah ... "In God We Trust." I don't believe that the Founding Fathers were NeoCons. Do you?

You have it a little wrong here. This was not in the Bill of Rights, it was the Declaration of Independence. It actually read, "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by THEIR Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."And what was that in the Preamble to the Bill of Rights? Ok, done, avoided. But Mormons despise gays and are able to meddle in political affairs 1300 miles from Zion?If you despise Mormons, avoid Utah.
Socialism is the political doctrine most in line with Catholic teaching. And Jesus was a socialist (based upon his actions and teachings in the Gospel). So why is it that the religious right rails on socialist policy? For the same reason they vote solely on abortion and not on the death penalty or poverty - they're one issue voting hypocrites.I don't want to get stuck in a Left vs. Right discussion, but I couldn't help but point a few things out. The keyword here is "THEIR", not "THE". Yes religious freedom, you don't have to pray to THE Creator. You can pray to YOUR Creator. If you want to pray to THE Creator, you may chose to live in any of the many theocracies out there.

If Christians really followed the teaching of Jesus, they would all be Socialists!
And that isn't the case now? What about the Pope? The Mormon prophet? The Pope and the Mormon prophet are the word of "God" on earth. They have revelation and direct communication with "God". They are both worshiped!Maybe they like the "old world", a world filled with worship of men, who happened to speak with the authority of God. In this "new world", like minded people were free to establish themselves, and their local governments, as they chose. Without the fear of restrictions, imposed by zealots.
This is the whole point I'm trying to make. It's quite a simple one, and with ample evidence. From outside the circle of zealoutry it's easy to see, but when under the influence of the zealout, one is blinded. And btw, Palin would indeed be considered a Zealot.
What about Obama? What about Chavez? What about Castro? The Pope and the Mormon prophet? Small potatoes in the big picture...ask MSNBC if you don't believe me.And that isn't the case now? What about the Pope? The Mormon prophet? They are both worshiped!
Only when judged by a zealot. And btw, Palin would indeed be considered a Zealot.
What about GW?(he actually talked to God) What about Oprah? I was simply pointing out men who are worshiped and happened to speak with the authority of God, just as you mentioned. GW based some of his decisions he made for this country from what God told him. You missed my point completely. There doesn't seem to be a "New World" People are still worshiped just as they were in the old world. I totally agree with the three you mentioned. What about Obama? What about Chavez? What about Castro? The Pope and the Mormon prophet? Small potatoes in the big picture...ask MSNBC if you don't believe me.
PS-We Americans can believe in god, but not God? I don't get it.
GW, worshiped? Not a chance. You must have missed that 8 years. Oprah, yes. What about GW?(he actually talked to God) What about Oprah? You can believe in whatever you want to believe, just don't try to stick your beliefs down other's throats. I don't have a problem with "a" God, but I do have a problem with "The God". Same reason I hate organized religion, I think it's detrimental. Once a big group of people believe in a Supreme One, they become infallible. They think it is their duty to get everyone to live the same way they do, worship the same. The truth, is that no one has the truth. The Supreme One is not a tolerant being.PS-We Americans can believe in god, but not God? I don't get it.
Since you can admit that "no one has the truth", why are you scared of "The God". Maybe that is "The Truth". Maybe it's not. Who are you to decide for others when you admit you don't know, can't know, "the truth"? Bigotry leads to hatred leads to tyranny. This is the truth. You can believe in whatever you want to believe, just don't try to stick your beliefs down other's throats. The Constitution is being burned, and we do live in Serfdom. Money is King.GW, worshiped? Not a chance. You must have missed that 8 years. Oprah, yes.
The Constitution of the United States IS the "new world". Burn it, and we get what we deserve. Kings and serfs...
i was at the gas station the other day filling my tanks. had the seadoo on the trailer behind my truck. i pulled to the forward pump but was filling the seadoo so i was way forward. i go inside and come out to find this lady parked on my brand new trailer lights. she had her liscense plate buried in the lens. i just ut those on last week. it was broken. she kacks up, i'm livid and ranting. her passenger gets out and is all "oh, we're sorry". like it 's no big deal. this is the part that killed me. she hads me $25 dollars, i give her $5 back. i'm still pissed. she says "give me your hand". for some STUPID reason i stick my hand out. she takes it and STARTS PRAYING. WTF!?! i said "BS" and yank my hand away. i walk away as i say to her "I DON"T NEED GOD, I NEED YOU TO WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING". she was still praying. You can believe in whatever you want to believe, just don't try to stick your beliefs down other's throats. I wonder, how would you have reacted had it been a 300 lb biker type instead of a "lady"? Hey Fdd, accidents do happen. I thought smoking a lot of pot made one mello, no? Just wondering.i was at the gas station the other day filling my tanks. had the seadoo on the trailer behind my truck. i pulled to the forward pump but was filling the seadoo so i was way forward. i go inside and come out to find this lady parked on my brand new trailer lights. she had her liscense plate buried in the lens. i just ut those on last week. it was broken. she kacks up, i'm livid and ranting. her passenger gets out and is all "oh, we're sorry". like it 's no big deal. this is the part that killed me. she hads me $25 dollars, i give her $5 back. i'm still pissed. she says "give me your hand". for some STUPID reason i stick my hand out. she takes it and STARTS PRAYING. it was like they had no care or concern of what they did, because GOD was watching over us.

ChCoda, you've gotta be baiting again. There's no way you're unable to understand what's being said. What about Obama? What about Chavez? What about Castro? The Pope and the Mormon prophet? Small potatoes in the big picture...ask MSNBC if you don't believe me.
Not can't believe in "the" God, and again you know this.PS-We Americans can believe in god, but not God? I don't get it.
