keep on vegging as they are small for 1 month old.
start flowering when they are about 10" tall or wait another 2-3 weeks vegging and they will show signs of sex and you can rid out the males before flowering.

I don't think they are all that small.

Looks like you are on the 5th node but they have very short internodal length. They have a nice vibrant green look so that is good. And I personally wait till I see signs of sex before I start to flower but even if you start early then you will be able to tell within 2 weeks.

Let's hope for Girls :)

also. is it normal that the leafs on my plant fold upward like a taco when almost time to cut off the light after18 hours?thank you

so in three weeks i can see if they are male or female without flowering them in the VEg stage?
also. is it normal that the leafs on my plant fold upward like a taco when almost time to cut off the light after18 hours?thank you

no 6-8 weeks in vegg will show signs of sex(a sexually mature plant).
and its not normal for the leaves to be curling and without pics i cant tell you what the problem may be.
How can I tell if my seedling is male or female without flowering it?

The most common method is to force flower a labeled clone to determine the sex, rather than the incorrect method of forcing the seedling and then reverting it to vegetative growth again.
If you are a seedling grower who does not clone, or a grower who has no seperate vegetative and flowering grow spaces, the easiest method is simply to wait for the preflowers (primordia), and sexual maturity to appear while the seedling is still in vegetative growth. In other words, if you wait until they are 6 to 8 weeks old, most plants will show you their gender without any forcing.
Seedling growers who don't clone are really missing out on the full potency potential of their finished crop whenever they force their seedlings before they've become sexually mature.

its really up to and when to start your 12/12 photoperiod. you can switch to 12/12 whenever you want i usually vegg for 4 weeks.
2 weeks of 24/0 and 2 weeks of 18/6 (the 24/0 promotes rapid growth and tight bushy nodes and when you switch to 18/6 this causes the plants to stretch more and i start my 12/12 when my plants are about 12" (4 weeks) tall and they usually end up 30-36" tall by the end.

Want to know how to save some money on electricity? Instead of 24 or 18 hours light try 3 on 3 off, using a multiple event timer. You're only using a total of 12 hours of light but the growth is the same as 18 or 24. It may actually be better. How can less be better, you might ask? I read one particular book about horticulture where they did an experiment and found that a "light break" (dark period) of 1-3 hours produced more growth than a continuous light cycle. This is because the plant's photosynthetic system becomes saturated after absorbing strong light for some time and the short dark period takes it back down to where it can most efficiently use light again. The maximum boost was obtained with 1 hour of dark but 3 hours was only slightly less effective. After 3 hours darkness it quickly drops off and by 4 or more hours the growth is less than with continuous light. So by using a 3/3 cycle you get at least as good growth as with longer light cycles and you use less power and water.

I haven't yet tried this during flowering phase but I just tried it for veg with some NL seeds and it worked great. By 5 weeks I already had to top them. The internodes were not long at all either, very short at first and then 3" maximum when they got bigger. I was using two 150w HPS in a 3'x1.5' cab. Now at 5 weeks growth I'm going to try 2 on 3 off 2 on 3 off 2 on 12 off. You would expect a plant grown with only 6 hours of light per day to produce practically nothing but I predict a bumper crop. Of course, if I see slow growth or excessive stretching I'll swich to 12/12 but if it works I'll be using half the power of a normal grow for the same or possibly even increased yield.

Yeah, bit of a problem with that. I read that a few years ago and it stuck in my mind and I just now am testing it out. It was in a university library and when I recently went back to try to find it, they had moved everything around and I couldn't even find it. It was just some obscure book about horticulture or photosynthesis or something like that. Those authors were the only people I have heard of who tried such a thing. I did a web search and couldn't find anything like that. Let's just call it a nice little nug of wisdom I happened to discover. Actually, when I read it it was in the days of non-digital timers so I couldn't test the repeating cycles out. They were just once on and once off per 24 hours. When I started growing again now they have the multi-event digital ones so I thought I might as well check it out. It certainly works for veg stage with the 12 hours total light. I haven't tried it with less, maybe you could get away with 8.

If other forum members want to scoff at this, that's their business. Apparently, Luda is very easy to amuse. Personally, I'll go with the less is more technique. I kind of like saving money and reducing heat, but that's just me, I'm weird like that.
