HEY GUYS, I HAVE A 400 WATT MH LAMP FIXTURE THAT I REWIRED TO 120 VOLTS AND WAS WONDERING IF i CAN USE A 250 WATT MH to run on it?? Please, I need info soon so I can grow!

no.....250 lights with 250 ballasts, 400 with 400 and so on and so on. if you try and run a lamp off the wrong wattage ballast you can cause explosians or fire

This may be stupid of me to even say this to you, but YES it is possible but NO dont do it!Like Nick said, explosion, fire, enough eh? good luck and also inform yourself on this warehouse fixture, as to obtain all the specs, could possibly help you with something or it ma7y not even be a good choice for your situation. Also the way i grow is i use a 250w MH for veg since that is enough light for a setup which when flowering will be put into a room with 400w. dont need so much light in the VEG phase as in the flowering phase, they use WAY more light to flower

Would this fixture be good for my grow tent of 6sq. ft. and with a 6in. duct fan exhausting the air out??

no disrespect but.......really mygirls? you've never had a problem doing that? shit, why do people bother buying switchable ballasts then? your saying a 1000w hps can runa 400w mh no prob? i dont really understand if thats what you mean, so i wont have to get a mh ballast after all? i can just use my hps ballast?

But, a 400 watt HPS doesn't run on a 400 watt metal halide. ballast.

you should be able to because i bought a 400w mh kit and im now running a 430w super argo hps in it

thank you mygirls. your a smart guy! i was really skeptical at first but ya won me over! you should spread the word far and wide! this is the sorta thing a semi-noob like myself needs to know! i could see this changing alot of growers lives. who would of had the balls to try it for the first time w/o this info? i didnt. +rep on the courage and the sharing of said discovery!
