Hey all I hope some of you find this at least a bit entertaining and I hope the video works.
I was trimming some of my girls and I found this caterpillar taking a nap curled up under one of my fan leaves after muching on the leaves.
So instead squashing it I decided to let one of his nature buddies decide his fate.
The entire encouter with this one ant and the caterpillar lasted about 5 minutes.
It was interesting to see what tactics both used to survive.
Watching the video I could tell the ant was many times stronger than the caterpiller. But the caterpillar had very powerful jaws and at 0:30 seconds it seemed to have used some sort of chemical defense mechanism that confused the ant.
The caterpillar was able to fight the ant off but afterwards it appeared to have suffered severe injuries and did not move or look active at all.
What do you guys think?
