Pointystick's outdoor backyard grow

Hey guys

This is gonna be one of those journals where there are a bunch of pics right away.

I started these cuttings inside in about april? I believe.

The one giant girl was used as a mother and was first planted in about february

The strain is some type of kush, not exactly sure though. My buddies ordered 100 clones for a commercial grow and I grabbed the mother from that batch and learned how to make cuttings off of it. I planted some of those cuttings and my buddy has a few outdoors as well.

In addition to that I have 4 plants started from seed that were very unhealthy but have since been nursed back to life. Unsure of their strain but they're supposed to be good outdoors in the pacific northwest/bc area

nothing serious, just 2 gallon pots in the backyard

I'll start with the earliest pics I have ..not sure of the date they first ones should be aprilish

first pic of the mother was in march or so

then the cuttings are in april or so

first pics on the deck are roughly end of may beginning of june

second pic is about a week later so 3-4 weeks ago...still not transplanted...I know...I know...

next 2 pics are the same day about 2.5 weeks ago

the last 3 pics are all on the same day...this was roughly a week ago so lets call it July 3rd ish

Oh...I should say at this point about my soil etc

mixture of organic seasoil/organic potting mix from local garden center

grown in southern BC

fertilizer is 20-20-20 mixed full strength every 10 days or so. I have also used superthrive at the correct 1 drop per gallon rate every time fertilizer was applied...I know I'll get flak for the 20-20-20, but it works.

It's fine for my tomatoes too, which are also doing awesome

only thing I'm worried about is this kush strain not finishing by the time I'm out of summer. The cuttings were just for practice, but I could not bring myself to throw them out so here we are...

1 of the 4 from seed has shown she is female as well, reaffirming my belief this strain is well suited for my climate.

will take some more pics tomorrow!

thanks for watching & happy growing!

Hey guys...little slow in replying but these pics are all from the 13th.

First one is the four started from seed. The bushy one in the front right is female. Other 3, no signs yet.

the big one doesn't look so great in this pic...will take some more today if I remember.

Last pic is where the girls go when company is over.

It's been 3 days since I've seen them so hopefully they're a bit bigger today.

thanks for watching

those are just really nice looking plants, very nice!
Thanks!

These pics are from yesterday.

I did some serious trimming off the big plant as well. I basically cut off any of the little popcorn branches that weren't getting any light, took off all the yellow leaves and tied the thing as spaced out as I could. The thing is looking thin now, but I have faith in her ability to recover now that it can get light a lot better.

The thing was topped so many times in an effort to make cuttings It's got so many growing tips everywhere. You guys can probably also notice how much smaller the leaves are on this one versus the others.

I guess I'm caught up pics wise now too.

2nd pic is the female from seed
sorry for cell phone cam pics...camera is broken.

What do you do to keep your neighbor's prying eyes out of the yard?
The yard has super tall trees on one side and a bunch of bushes on the other. There's also a 6' fence on the other side of the trees and bushes respectively. Basically, no one can see anything unless they're in the yard.

Any time anyone's coming by I just stick them along the side of the house. I even had a big party a few weeks ago and no one saw anything.

Because of where I live I'm pretty ballsy with marijuana to be honest. I guess that could all change with bill c-15 tho...

I watched cops (American show obviously)last night and saw this guy and his girlfriend get pulled over with maybe 2 ounces and they both got arrested. The cops referred to it as felony possession.

I'd really hate to see that shit happen here, but it looks like Canada has taken one step in that direction.

That's sick man. I've got neighbours on all sides of me and no trees to work with. I wish I could use my backyard. I have a cop who lives on my street though so I figure it might not be the best idea.

I'm really scared of this bill C-15 crap. Have you checked out www.whyprohibition.ca to help try and stop it yet? Go on there and email your respective senators with the emailer they have set up. We all need to do what we can. I try to write my Senate Members a letter weekly.

Hey guys

Took these pics today. It's been 5 days since the last pics I posted. Again, this is my cell phone camera so the pics aren't so clear.

I'm starting to think that out of my 4 from seed only 1 is female.

My kush girls are just starting to flower now I believe. I can count several hairs towards to top of the plant where last week there were only 1 or 2. I'm actually quite happy to see this happening already. I can pretty much count on 8 more weeks of nice weather so if they're starting to flower now I should be on schedule.

Guess that means it's time to switch fertilizers

I had a couple aphids as well so I went and bought insecticidal soap. I also got organic bloom/bud fertilizer. Normally I'd use 15-30-15, and one time I even had 10-52-10, but this stuff is 0-25-23? and it's organic.

I figure I'll try it and see how she goes. Opinions welcome

stay tuned:joint:

They look gorgeous man. I wish I was able to have my outdoor one in a sunnier spot. Unfortunately it must remain relatively hidden :(

What brand of fertilizer do you use?

Thanks!

Hidden is important, don't worry about it too much if you can't keep them in the sun all day.

What I do is move them out into the sun and put them away to the hidden spots only when I have to.

Fertilizer brand huh?

I was just using a big pail of 20-20-20 I got at home depot. Not sure of the brand.

Normally I'd use miracle grow 15-30-15 for budding. This time I just grabbed some organic one, not sure the brand.

This stuff wasn't from a hydro shop. It's just from my local garden store. The cashier did say it'd be awesome for tomatoes so time will tell.

I fertilized them all yesterday again. I forgot I'd hit them with 20-20-20 only 6 days prior so hopefully we'll be ok.

I'll have new pics in a couple days

Hey guys

Pics taken just a few hours ago. Nothing special going on really.

One pic of the big girl with 2 undecided gender plants to the right.

Pic not on the bench is the one girl from seed.

Group shot, and one of my favourite so far on the bench.

Aphids are still around over my girls and my tomatoes. I've been spraying my soap on them everyday for the last three days. There's no where near enough of them to do any damage, but they're still pissing me off.

Did a decent amount of trimming as well today. Not exactly lollipopping, but I basically cut off any wimpy lower branches. Anything that won't produce I pulled off.

I was contemplating transplanting a few that are exceptionally large. I don't know if I'll bother, they're all still growing rapidly.

Thanks for checking in

Hey guys

Been a few days since I last updated so here's a few pics. Nothing special going on really. I've been fertilizing heavily so I think I'll give them all a good flush in another couple days to remove salt build up.

Even if the plants look small in the pics they're all up to my waist and I'm 5'11. I'm just no good at photos.

Some bug has been chomping holes in some leaves, but nothing serious just superficial. I looked high and low for whatever it could be, but couldn't find a damn thing. The aphids are all gone for now at least.

A few of my leaves are looking funny. Mostly the giant fan leaves, but my cell cam is too crappy to get a nice pic of anything to show. It's all on old leaves so it's probably normal. Again it's nothing serious, but I guess I better go read some more in the plant problems section.

Any sign of gender yet on those 2?
I wish they'd hurry up, they're all past my waist, bigger than the kush and looking awesome. One has what I think could be male pre flowers, but I'm not sure yet. It's been awhile since the first girl showed so who knows what the others are waiting for.

the one in the pic is the same girl from seed again

thanks for stopping by

Hey guys

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, I've been busy 7 days a week like you would not believe. I finally have a little break today.

So since I last updated I have a bit of news. I believe I have over fertilized my once wonderfully emerald green babies. It's unlike fertilizer burn I've seen before and can only assume that it's from the 0-23-25 fertilizer I have since there's no actual burning of the leaves.

It's basically turned some of the larger lower fan leaves odd colours. One plant has several leaves that have gone purple, but it's one of the ones from seed so it's not a big deal. Other than the odd colours, the girls seem pretty much fine.

Now I must think on why this has happened. I accidentally used my new organic 0-23-25 only 6 days after the 20-20-20, but I did so at roughly 75% strength so that's one possibility. Having said that, I've not over fertilized anything in recent memory, hence the 75% strength of the first go of this new stuff.

Another is that this fertilizer is not great. I bought it because I wanted to try to be more organic with everything. I even flushed my plants about 5 days after feeding them. Even my tomatoes' leaves have gone a bit off and the plants were producing huge tomatoes on 20-20-20 and are now producing considerably smaller ones.

Opinions very welcome. I think I'll try the organic fertilizer once more, but if the leaves go even weirder than they are now, I'm definitely going to something else.

Anyways, other than a few leaves changing colours everything looks fine.

Still waiting for sex to show on 3 of the 4 from seed.

First pic was taken about a week ago.

Here's a pic of my one plant with purple leaves.

thanks for stopping by.

I should be less busy in the next couple weeks for more regular updates.:peace:

lookin beautiful
Thanks!
