I have a CoolTube running 400W and the guy and my Hydro shop told me I could get away using a 6" inline duct booster instead of a inline fan what do you guys think. I found one that puts out 250cfm's

do not touch a cheap under 50 bucks duct fan booster. If so just throw the money down the toilet...the same effective use of money. A tiny bit bigger in size but perfect is the s and p inline fans. The TD150 or depending long length and use 200 model. 2 speeds and low works great for move air movement.

I'm gonna be moving the air thru 6 inch duct about 25 feet
Well if its the one from home depot or lowes. You would need 2 for that length. If u have the money i would recommend a stronger fan.I use one for my euro reflector and I had to add another one in a 2.5x2.5x5 space.Temps stay at 82 Im waiting to get the 6inch fan with the filter from htg supply.

I agree with your guy at the hydro shop. I first bought a 6" duct booster fan that said 250cfm's but when I got it and hooked it up it didn't feel strong so I read the fine print and its 160cfm's by itself and 250cfm's when its actually in your duct and your central ac unit is blowing. So I did a little looking online and found one that said sure enough 250 cfm's without any help. I ordered it and to this day I'm glad I did. The only difference I see between the two is that the weak one has plastic blades and the strong one has metal ones. But man is there a huge difference in the air they move. Turns out all good tho cause the weak one is perfect for my clone chamber and the strong one does the trick for my flower chamber. I'll try to remember where I found the good one. If I find it I'll shoot you a link.

Thanks for the info. I too thought 250cfm's was enough to keep my light cool
