desani water is cheap shit its filtered tap water with minerals added + it tastes like shit if you really want to use bottle water try crystal geysar or arrowhead water only 4$ at your local store as long as its spring water trust me its more natural+its got alot of good stuff in it trust me and it doesent taste like shit water if i want filter water i will just go with my aquasense fridge water filter taste better than that desani shit

go to walmart n get the Great Value bottled water the ph is awesome, my plants drink it right up.. it's only about 3 bux a case..

Most bottled water is simply tap water, sometimes filtered, but often just strategically placed in areas with good to excellent tap water.

Spring water is often tapped at the detriment to local citizens who rely on the water source to live. People in 3rd world countries have died of thirst and starvation due to companies(like Coca Cola/Dasani!) claiming clean 'spring' water sources by basically means of fraud, extortion, threats, blackmail, etc, often utilizing corrupt government officials.

There are also more slaves today than at any other time in recorded history. Oh, and Evian spells naive backwards.

You can buy a water filter and filter your own tap water(takes out the chlorine, and little else), or get an RO system if you really want minimal PPM. You'll save a shit ton of money, and it's much more environmentally responsible.

And there is 2 types of chlorine used. One does evap off the other doesn't. The latter is more in favor these days since it doesn't evap off, keeping the uglies down longer.

Think its chlorine vs chloromite (or chloromide)

The chlorine in tap water is about the last of your worries.
(kinda like taking the valve caps off your tires to reduce weight to make your car go faster)

Ok im getin confused.Purified or spring water?I keep reading people saying one is good the other is bad.But mostly spring seems to not be used by many people & most use purified.Fiji,yeah its good water.But hell is basicly $6-$10 a gallon.Also,How about filling a large pot up with tap water & boil it for lets say 1hr or so.Would it be good then?

I hope your joking about watering your plant with fiji water (which is imported from fiji???)...

think about it. not only are you going to the store and spending money on something that is already being delivered to your home at virtually no cost, you're also adding pollution and waste from the transport and packaging of...WATER. I'll have myself a seltzer or a perrier from time to time, but i find even drinking bottled water is retarded. And I'm not a tree-hugger by a long shot, this is just one place where you can easily avoid adding to the trash and co2 you produce each year.

If you want the absolutely best and purest water for your hydro system, go out and get yourself some distilled water in gallon jugs at CVS. If you're growing in soil, get a bucket, fill it up with tap water, let that shit sit for a day or two and the ph should be fine. Or just collect rainwater with it. If you want to go fancy get an air pump to bubble it or better yet an RO system, but for the love of god don't buy bottled water and feed it to your plants. Most of this will have the same mineral composition of your tap water, so you're giving money to the coca-cola company and adding trash and pollution....bottom line is it's fucking water, which as far as your plants are concerned is H20 and nothing else. If you want to add nutrients to your plants, go to the hydro store.

On a side note, anyone ever thought about the environmental impact of growing indoors? Most of us get our electricity from coal fired plants, so what we are doing isn't exactly good for the planet...i'm not sure the little bit of O2 our ladies put out is going to have a huge impact considering the electricity need to run all our lamps, fans and the other gadgets. If it weren't for politics, i think most of us would be growing our plants outdoors where they belong. Don't get me wrong, indoor growing has it's place in the winter or for providing a tightly controlled environment for seedlings, but let's face it plants belong under the sun not in a closet.

i use reverse osmosis water i get from the supermarket its 1.25 for 5 gallons Ill never use regular tap water ever again. THe difference in the overall look of my plants is night and day. Water is not just water , my tap water has a ph of 8.5 and a ridicoulos amount of heavy metals. The RO water is so clean the tiniest drop of ph ajuster will have dramtic affects but latley ive been using biocanna and since the ro water is always 6.8 always i dont need to worry about ph or clorine or anything just add a little calmag.WATER quality is one of the most important things dont be an idiot and buy bottled water(its probably not that clean anyway) but dont sell yourself short either look around you may find something cost effective that will seriously improve the quality of crop. although i do hand water my rockwool cubes if you runnin 100dreds of gallons of resivours it could be harder to justify. i use 5 gallons a week on setup, i got rockwool cubes, soil pots, and soilees hydro and soiless hydro and soil mixed together trying to see wich produces the best results at 4 weeks its the rockwoool thats winning but the biocanna is catchin up in a big way!
