Got bored and cut branch off today

How long does it take a plant to recover from having a lower branch cut off from it.
Say the plant it 4 foot tall and had 15 branches, what are the effects of removing one branch, will it just stunt it for a few days? Will it have a drastic effect on the rest of the plant?

To tell you the truth, I really didnt notice any change. Of course it has been budding for quite a while now and growth is VERY slow anyways. I dont hink it will really have any effect what so ever. I cut down one of my trees early a few weeks ago(Thats another story.) and I left a few branches of the hacked main stem. Whats left of it is now doing awesome. It took 0ff like I never even cut down the rest of the plant.
