fungal gnats

hi all!

been at it for a good amount here, have had some AWESOME advice from you folks. i have now the first serous issue and was hoping that the good people at rollitup are able to give some advice. here is the situation.
FUNGAL GNATS.

have the lobster trap with vinegar, thats working, (barely)
had the yellow sticky paper. caught 3 in a week....
covered soil in sand....helped bu not eliminated.
hot shot perst control from lowes. that actuall does help a LITTLE

my next step is to remove the sand, ehich i did already, then blast the garden with wind for a couple days to dry the soil. apply some H2O2 with water 1:3 ratio, then add soil purchsed, AFTER i terilize it.


so knowledgable ones......

should i sterilize the organic soild have? would that help?
i think the drying out will help, although im so darn precise, i never overwater.
herd aquarium rocks to what the sand was supposed to.....wives tale?

I'm not sure if i had fungal gnats, but i probably did. I had just about every bug there was due to my location (thick brush next to a pond)... i didn't bother looking up each bug i saw. I had been using neem oil and diatamaceous earth once a week prior to my bug problem (and prior to moving my plants) but it didn't stop the bugs... now i have been using moterey garden spray (spinosad) and Azamax combined using 5ml of each per 16oz. I have used 3 applications so far about 5-6 days apart and am due for another application. THis just about fixed my bug problem other than the grasshoppers cutworms and slugs (iron phosphate took care of the slugs).
I recently found out I had centipede lookin bugs in my soil so today I used a soil drench using 20ml/gal of neem oil, hopefully that will get them out of there. I also mixed in diatamaceous earth in my soil prior to transplanting but that didn't seem to do much good.

guy, you had some serious problems. thanks for the advice. i have heard of some og those applications. gnatrol seems to be liked by many for them. good news for ya though, i went the route of no sprays or pesticide of anykind. what i did was, after the sand application, was remove the sand, get rid of bad looking soil, cultivate the medium, and BLAST it with air for a few days. this dryed out the soil. then i went with the H2O2 solution. NO GNATS THUS FAR!

the neem oil is ight, just the residue if not used corectly sucks. it burns but like sizzles, be careful with the apps. i chose to go from the bottom up insead of buying some product that kills them, and hurts the natural plants. its all safe or whatever but recently i smoked herb with some neem left on, no good bro. the plant was good, the neem on some of it was not!

forgot to mention added some good soil after a moisten. lots of perlite and a dash of my mix. (house and garden). good feelings on this one. keep ya posted broman!
