Here goes nothing....my first dive into growing

hey Rollitup im new here and im starting my first "real" grow

ive done one in the past but i was young and extremely under read about this subject hahaha

so im doing a tiny pre operation grow just to dip my toes in the water...

i plan to expand but i wanna try it out first...

So far Ive got

-some bagseed
-a 42 watt Cfl 2700k with a circular refector
-MG potting mix (i know its not the best soil out there but i will uprgade to FF as soon as i get this one under my belt)
- i got a tiny bucket 80 oz or .62 gallons (but im going to work out another section on it to make it hold atleast 1 gal)
-Grandmas unsulfured molasses

im in the process of getting
-fans
-timer
-some type of carbon filter



My plan is just to grow 1 plant and just LST, and topping from week 3-4 then straight into 12/12

with a molasses and water mixture every other day

i know there is a MG potting soil "slow release" nute so i really dont know how to go about nutes...

i will eventually go FF oceanforest but for now MG will do

anything else im leaving out?

I think youll need more light and a higher kelvin rating, 6500k i believe is good for vegging, and i would get at least a few. Just a thought.

yeah i might throw in a more blue spectrum bulb but i jus figured since i wasnt vegging for too long it'd be fine but now ill grab one

ive been reading up on molasses and found some very interesting info but im still not quite sure when to introduce the molasses to the feeding schedule....3 weeks into grow? 3 weeks into flowering? RIGHT at the beginning?

miracle grow will most likely ruin your grow, dont even bother till you get fox farm, your just going get frustrated

you can use molasses anytime. i dont start till i flower but some people use it in veg too. you can grow using MG soil. but it is less reliable than FF. you really have to watch overwatering with it, overwatering releases more ferts and can burn your plants.

im going to get some perlite to mix with the soil so its more Airy i guess and im also going to try and only water with seltzer water just to try it out and see how it goes...

the perlite is an excellent idea with MG, it can 'cut' the very hot traits of MG, i.e. too much fert for a seedling
seltzer water is not a good idea, co2 to the roots will not help and may well kill your plant
molasses can be very good(just finishing a grow with it), but probably won't help much in a MG grow, it's better for organic soils

miracle grow will not ruin your grow ive been using it and my plants have came out perfect. they only say that cuz every time u water it lets out nutrients. just concentrate on the p-k nutrients becuz miriacle grow has a shit load of n in it

well i just put 3 of the 4 germinated seeds into cups to get rooted a bit.... i used this Seltzer maker i have at my house to start off the watering with a little bit of mollases for food....

ill get pics of the setup tonight

i only got one 43w 2700k bulb going for now, but tomorrow im grabbing a 6500k and another 2700k

my idea is to only keep the best growing plant at about 2 or 3 weeks cause i can only do one for now....

i know its lame but survival of the fittest is at hand

and i was suprised how well the bagseeds taproot developed in germination it was tough looking hehehe

starting a grow journal tomorrow i got pics from day5 and now im done with week 1 so i will have update pics too and 3 out of 3 germinated seeds sprouted and i now have 2 43 watt 2700k bulbs and one 23 watt 5000k bulb and they look great i will post the journal link as soon as i finish ittttt
