ok i bought a cabinet to grow in it has a i think a 600w hps at the top built in an two flous at the sides one on each side tubes i need to know what is the best flouresent tubes to use for veg and flowering tring to keep my plants from steching i cant move my plants closer to top light so i need some good tube flous thanks for replys

You can always put your plants on a stack of books or something to keep it from strechin.

I would go with standard cool white and warm white tubes (mixed 1 to 1) , from home depot or office max.

thanks tinsatx but the way my cabinet is made the res hits the bottom of the light fixtures of the tubes so i cant raise itand thanks to you to green cross do the say cool white and warm white on them again thanks

Seriously now though, when buying CFLs you have the light spectrum, measuring in kelvin. 6800k for veg 2700k for flowering. these are the details you need to look for, not neccerseraly the type of bulb, but the properties of the bulb.

if i were you id figure out a way of getting those flouro fixtures out of the way so you can raise your plants/res

what kind of flouros are they? they might not be doing enough good to outweigh just taking them out so you can raise your plants.... or find a way to make your light adjustable. stretching is a mother...

thanks thatdjsnow sorry haven't checked this thread for along time i think i well try to take the fixtures out.well puting the plant closer to the light help to get the bigger and more dense or is that done by the feed thanks

The further away from the lights, the more your plants will stretch. The "power" of the light also drops over distance so the closer you can keep them to the light the better. The limiting factor is how much heat your lights are putting out. With an air cooled hood you can keep your lights closer to the top of the plants.

Side lighting, no matter what the kelvin won't help with stretching if your main light is far away. If you're using a standard HPS and not one of the enhanced spectrum bulbs then you might actually want some of your side lighting to be 6,500k to get some mixed spectrum in.

Probably T12's. Ok for seedling but I wouldn't use them for much else.

ok, i know they are 6500k and they are made for high overhead use in a shop, i don't have a grasp on the difference between cfls and normal tubes, i'll try it out and get something different if i don't have any luck
