If this were true Jews would feel racism towards anyone who looked German right, or do you believe this only apply to a certain race? I find the opposite to be true.

There are bigger fish to fry. But I have a good story pretty innocent. I live in a predominately while town. When we were teens a friend and I would go out for coffee every day. He drives... we get into the parking lot and there are 4-5 black kids playing while there parents are eating at an outside restaurant next door to coffee shop. Nothing to me, I grew up in a bunch of diff cities with mostly if not all non-white friends. But I guess this is where the issue comes in. He lived here his whole life, never really experiencing what I had, proceeds to lock the car doors. I'm like "What are you scared the kids will break into your car?" Nobody locks their doors around here, he never had not even the house I could walk into his house anytime. I just kinda laughed it off inside, threw me for a loop.
So after coffee we head to his place to do whatever probably playing crib at the time so we pull up and there are a bunch of neighborhood kids playing on the street. We hop out the car and walk toward the house. Me being me I asked him "What? your not going to lock the car?" It was like he didn't understand why I asked him, and just walked inside. Nothing was said after that but for 15 years and to this day he locks his car everywhere. If that's his way of not feeling racist I dunno? Or maybe he doesn't trust anyone anymore?

I think everyone is racist to some degree including you. I have a mixed family, and yet I know it is in me somewhere. The miracle of life is not that we are all good people that avoid doing bad things. It is that all of us are screwed up and still able to do good things. Accept that you will never be perfect and you will soon be on the road to becoming so.

well said guitar! Where I'm from is 99% white. When I was a kid we moved around alot and most my friends were not white. The thing about where we live tho is that there is an indian reservation not far from here and it's statistically one of the worst as far a crime/murder etc. This has a huge effect on the people here. alot of racism toward indians. Another thing that doesn't help is that a large portion of the crimes committed by the white people here get put on the natives skewing the local perception even more. Little stuff like local kids stealing cars joyride it and leave it near the reserve. Just about anything that doesn't resolved gets put on them. Sucks!!!

Green, I was actually responding to the original poster but since you ask, pride has nothing to do with it. Racism is about fear more than pride. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your ancestors achievements.

I met a young Black guy once, and during the conversation he mentioned that he was in the music business. I, being an avid music fan, especially jazz, said: "Do you play an instrument?" He angerly said: "NO! AND i DON'T DANCE, EITHER!!" So, I asked him what he did in the music business ... and he told me that he was a promoter.
So, who was the racist in this instance? I mean, I innocently asked him if he was a musician, and he just assumed that I was a racist. Go figure.

It's more acceptable for whites to be prejudice out of fear than pride. It's alot more acceptable for blacks to have racist views and enterprises. Black Pride Parades, Black Entertainment Television (BET), "Ebony" magazine, ect-ect. Can you imagine the reaction to a "Ivory" magazine, White Entertainment Television (WET), and don't even think about having a White Pride Parade. I'm not prejudice. I have a Korean girlfriend, black and native american friends. And from now on I'm not refering to myself as white and when I hear other people say it, I'm going to cat very offended... I might even sue. From now on, I'm European-American!

Saying "I'm not racist" before telling racist jokes does not make it so. Kind of like saying "I'm not gay" before grabbing your ankles, I think.

Here's a good example of subconscious racism. Have you ever noticed how it's usually the liberal elite who are the first to call someone a racist, ban racial humor, and offer blacks and other so called minorities special privileges? That's because they subconsciously look down on them. I believe they subconsciously feel that these folks are so inferior that they (the liberal elite) must protect them.
I think that's ridiculous. Blacks and gays would be better off without your so called "help".

IDK! I think that if a person is racist they would have to be conscious of it. If your racist then you consciously feel that a race categorizes/defines a persons traits, abilities or their actions. It's true that this may alter how u yourself act, however being cautious is not being racist. Your reaction should relate to the current situation.
