Calling all Mandala Growers

Hello all,
I am just starting my second grow wich will consist of Mandala Hashberry and Nirvan PPP freebees from Gypsy Nirvana. . My first grow was DP Blueberry, HUGE mistake. Out of ten beans I got 1 female that turned out to be a nanner factory. Nuff said.

Anywho, I have germinated all my beans (paper towel for 24 hrs then into FFOF in cups). So far out of 15 beans 13 have popped up and are doing fine.

I have done some research and accordding to Mandala Mike Hashberry can be finished with only high quality soil such as FFOF. I hope I didn't make a mistake by germinating them directly into this "hot" mix, time will tell. Any way I would appreciate any input, advice, tips or general knowlege regarding Hashberry or Mandala gear in general. They will be under Floro's veg and a 1K HPS for flower.

Also, I have read some reports of Herman showing up with Hashberry. I am very hesitant to pre judge any breeders work based on others reports as we all know many factors can induce hermaphrodism. I a few of the reports of the plants hermied shortly after feeding with nutrients. Being of landrace genetics could this be a trigger? Landrace genetics are very sensitive to nutrients and from what I have read anything out of the norm can cause problems. Any input on avoiding a visit from herman would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I have grown almost all of the Mandala strains with the exception of the newer ones that were introduced this year. I was not impressed with the Hashberry strain as far as potency goes but it did yield very well - watch out for humidity though - got bud rot in a couple of the main colas. I never experienced any hermies with any of the strains and what they say is correct about nute strength. I don't grow in soil, I grow hempy buckets and I would say max ppm for the nutes is around 900 on the .7 scale. My favorite is Satori - very potent, very uplifting high, no couchlock, long lasting, very clear high. Female to male ratio was right around 60% female. I wouldn't pay too much attention to those that claim hermies - most of the time they caused it themselves and blame the breeder. Mandala is a first rate breeder!

Thanks for the info. I have also hear mixed results regarding potency of Hashberry. After doing some research I was willing to trade off potency for yeild as Hashberry does have a rep for being a very large yeilder under the right conditions.

I am a big fan of their satori.

I am also growing out their safari mix, but so far I have had 2/3 males, with a third yet to show sex. All of their plants have been very quick growers requiring minimal nutes.

I'm growing a bunch of Satori, I did a bunch in hydro and I don't think that this strain is well suited for it. I also have a couple larger plants in soil, it seems there are two phenotypes of Satori.
A shorter indica and a taller more sativa. The indica pheno seems to be able to use more nutrients while the sativa pheno has a very low nutrient requirement and can be easily burned.

I want to try the hashberry, it seems like all Mandala strains don't need much nutrient to grow big.

Satori is an awesome smoke BTW, great clear headed high and very powerful. :peace:

Just found this thread. I got a couple of what I believe are a Hashberry/Lockdown cross in flower right now (see sig). FFOF and 250w HPS.

Overall it's been a nice strain and I've been growing it from clones for about a year. Bud rot can be an issue. I'm in a small enclosed space and one grow I had just to many plants in there. Some of the buds got pressed up against the Mylar and I think it trapped the moisture.

Hell yeah... I love the mandala line because they are very easy to grow... low smelling...and as far as potency thats in your opinion. I beleave that anyone that grows these plants can decide on when to harvest and give you a little more CBD to knock you into tonight....

In my experience with there strains... Hashberry,Safari (from then) and then 8 miles high and safari from that batch...I love them. They are a very strong genetic line and produce nice big buds...

Like i said i just think its lacking on the strong skunky smell. But... if you want some of that then go get it... ill stick to the sweet smells that mandala is known for.

I just got my first confirmed female safari last week. My first two were males.

Can't find many people that have grown it, what do you think of it? Is there a lot of variation between the different safari's you had? I used a safari male to pollinate a couple other strains, I'm hoping I didn't seed my crop for nothing.
