I've never heard of soil lice, but if it happens to be spider-mites you can g et yourself some neem oil and it should work just fine.

You might have springtails...are they little white jumpers? If so they are beneficial to the soil because they live off of decomposing matter, but they multiply fast and are controlled with neem, or just use diatonaeus earth as a top dressing.

Well I could certainly be wrong we don't have every bug here that exists everywhere else but it's not something common but what is common is people seeing fungus gnats and completely ignoring them thinking they are harmless and not even seeing the larvae or not putting two and two together.

Whatever it is, kill it. The most beneficial insects I've ever seen are dead ones. :)

I've had fungus gnats flying around my grow closet since day 1 but my week old seedling is fine so far. Anyone know how exactly they or their larvae can harm your plants?

What color are they?

Do they fly?

I've had an experience with very tiny, silver gnat looking bugs in my soil. Come to find I was overwatering, not enough to have negative effects on my girls, but enough to sustain a ripe environment for these tiny bugs to multiply.

What I do now is stir the top two inches of soil to help airflow in the containers. I've also knocked down my feeds by 400ml per feed.

I haven't seen them since I started this routine.

well they don't fly and yeah they seem to come more to the top when you water. I water every Monday and stir the top soil around to. also I have a fan on the soil and they seem to be gone, im sure though. I gathered 10 of them in a sandwich bag with soil but I don't see them multiply and its been a week. when I water on monday I will see if they are gone for good, thanks for your comment but they dont evolve to fly.

Gidday get some of those sticky yellow insect traps you hang around ther grow room and cut a few into pieces about an inch square and place them on the top !
the larvea will eat your roots and possible death. when I had some I could see the larvae in my res when the water drained back had to get some drench to finally kill em (was not good)
