Proudstoner...haha I no longer grow for "fun." I take it very serious now, I study and read about it constantly, almost obsessive. I used medicinally as well so I am all over this plant. Just love to read more about it and learn about it that its now a hobby!!

Thank god for this forum, and this thread in particular. I am preparing to build a stealth cabinet (instead of my closet, at the advice of my newbie thread) and really wanted to make my own bubble setup, but was way too intimidated by the info I could find online. Great thread, very detailed info and love the pics. My first grow will still be in soil as planned since I'm just beginning, but if all goes well I will upgrade for my 2nd batch. Thanks!

Growing in Hydro, using Feeder tubes to each root base, cuts the growing time in 1/3, compared to soil growing.

Man, you make me want to change over to all high power cfl's, you looking good.
Ed Rosenthal has an article out, about doing comparison tests with CFLS, and he says many 42s, like 4 42s are better than 2 200 watt bulbs. He says comparing price per lumen, 42 watt CFLs are the best buy and the best way to grow.

Damnit....I want to add nutes. Hurry up first node! Should I Keep Humidity cups over the seedlings while they develop?

Waiting on the second set of edged leaves, and working on my patience.....

Fungus Gnat larvae, and Root Aphids in hydroton
permalink
In a DWC grow using hydroton it is
inevitable to get one or both of these root crunchers. Your plant will get stressed, suffer, and may die. At the least you will get decreased yield. Realize that hydroton is a bug magnet, many places to lay eggs and the buggers like roaming around the top of the hydroton.

What do you folks use to alleviate an infestation and then keep them away.
Or, do you add something to the reservoir that will keep them away from day one and, what ever it is that is used, does not harm the plant?

note: Posting this here...if in wrong place let me know. Thx

Yep those dam nats killed one of my northern lights.....a couple weeks ago....thats the first time it has happened....there were tons of them everywhere, it was crazy....i had to get the vaccume cleaner and suckem up!!

Researched a bit and found this stuff....http://cgi.ebay.com/GNATROL-WDG-Organic-BTI-Fungus-Gnat-Control-300-grams_W0QQitemZ130320855583QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1e57ba721f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 it worked great....after i killed all the living ones they were really gone overnight....its a powder and i put some in the tub...mixed it in bottle and poured it through the top....down through the roots....it is suposed to be safe to use....it was really amazing how fast it worked....i would highly reccomend it

Don't cut the root. Too small and it's probably just a little stained from the hydrotron. Look at them when they get well into the res.

Nice little grow space. How much height do you have?

Ya done right PS. About 30ml for the tank is right. You are using twice as many nutes as I am. I use 6 gallons in an 8 gallon tub.
