NPK test in soil?

Your better off taking a ppm reading from your soil run off. Dont be so much concerned with how much of what nutes are in there. But be more concerned with how much dissolved salts are in your medium. Since most synthetic nutes are salt based minerals. If you are feeding them the correct porportions of ferts then your cool. Just watch out for salt buildups as they have a nasty tendancy to lock out nutes from your roots. So check the ppm of your mix before you feed and check your run off. Giving them a flush once a month is a good preventative measure to avoid salt buildups.

I bought a Ph soil test kit, and it came with the testing tools for the NPK too. It was 9$ at canadian tire... works well enough for me :)

ppm is the best way, and you can flush every week or 2 so there isnt a build up of anything its not using instead of figuring out which ones it needs or not
