Nice DIY cloner. I too have gone the aero method and have had great success. Now that it's summer it's a little tougher to get things working without a little manual labour. What temps is the water?
Actually, the temps are almost certainly too high, felt like bathwater. Still worked. It's really warm in my area. Cooling seemed too complex for my DIY DWC. So, frozen bottles?Nice DIY cloner. I too have gone the aero method and have had great success. Now that it's summer it's a little tougher to get things working without a little manual labour.
The res in my cloner needs frozen water bottles to keep it below 75. I also have had to add a dome because of low humidity.
The aero cloner I made was a part of the Stinkbud aero system. Check out www.stinkbuddies.com
Thanks for checking in, brotha. The Rubbermaid is the 14 gallon variety (but I'm pretty sure they only make 18 gallon in this size range anymore) -- and make sure you get the darkest/most-opaque one you can find. Light on roots is your enemy.great job, denny! i've been anxious to try one of these kinda cloners myself.
if you don't mind......i have a couple of questions that i didn't see in the thread
- what size rubbermaid are you using for the aerocloner?
- what water level do you maintain in the aerocloner since the misters are spraying the cuttings?
thanks for all the info!
No worries meangreen, learning everything we can is the name of the game here. Rep up for you!i used less then 1/4 stgth oliva's clone solution, the gel came right off..then when i saw the roots start to pop i put a lil cannas rizatonic just to see what happens (seems to work well)...yeah denny a water chiller cost about $300 + bucks, and uses about 300watts of power...sorry if im hijacking man....u should make a journal fo sho i whould like to see how the grow comes outs...meangreen
Yeah, my DWCs are also homemade and are pretty basic. Medium sized (14-18 gallon) Rubbermaid totes with 5" or 6" net pots, filled with hydroton (or other clay pebble medium) and aerated by two 12" airstones, power by a single (double output) air pump. I also use 4 to 5 gallons in the tub.Great journal +rep. Did you DIY your veg DWC system?? If so, can you give some more details on your set up? I am interested in making a veg and flower DWC!
