how these wort coolers work. there are 2 inputs and 2 outputs on the coolers, couldn't you just use a chiller with 1 input and 1 output. so do they sit outside of the reservoir or inside? how many pumps will you need? etc...
there's an inlet and outlet to these aluminum cooling blocks
they have internal tunnels from the inlet to the outlet
the cold water that runs through them, cools the block
as aluminum conducts heat and cold evenly across its surface
this cools the water its sitting in, usually used for small reservoirs
you will also find then in a coil shape inside beer coolers or carbonated drink dispensers
they are usually make out of soft cooper, which is it the lower form of wrath chillers
not advised to place cooper in your res, these are made of stainless steal
and will take the salts and harsh conditions where the copper will corrode
any way, you'd Daisey chain them back to the res as a single closed loop
only one pump is needed to circulate the water through the chiller and through the loop
the loop starts at the outlet of the chiller runs through the Daisey chained blocks then end's at the res
where a pump pushes back into the chillers inlet to start the loop again
they are expensive though, the terminator runs about $200
the Shirron is around $100, they each perform acurding to their coast
