Sex Of Plant Question

Hello, I have been growing 2 plants outdoors since about March or April so roughly 4 or 5 months. The strain of both of them are Afghan and they are both about 5 or 6 feet tall and very bushy. How/when will I be able to tell the sex of these plants? They both do not show any sign of being a male. Does that mean that they're both females or is it still to early to tell? And by the way, I live in Cali.
~Thanks

If you have been growing that long I'm surprised they still havent shown their sex yet. Especially coming into the latter end of the growing season. Are you sure you know what to look for to tell the plants gender?

i.e. balls for males/ hairs for females (the quick test :)

You can determine the sex of your plants pretty early on. As soon as your seedling has a few leaves, you can see a protrusion at the juncture of the main stem and the leaves. You might need to use a magnifying glass, maybe not. If the "protrusion" looks like a tiny sword, it's a female. If it looks like a tiny sword with a little ball at the end, it's a male.
Sorry for not using the correct botanical terminology. I've always sexed my plants (successfully) using this method. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I checked both of them and they both have no balls anywhere. They have what you were talking about tho. The " tiny sword" like hairs coming from all branches.

One of my plants are starting to get little tiny balls around the tops of the plants. I have a big female right next to it. I know that its probably a male but, is it for sure or should i wait a little bit? I wanna find out asap so my other plants dont get seedy.. I dont wanna pull it because its such a huge plant.. :-(

you should be able to tell by now if they are bushy i would bet female
Wasnt able to get a real close shot of the little balls on one of my plants becuase they are so tiny and they have green type hairs(maybe forming leaves?) coming from they balls. They both are very busy and right next to eachother ( They both are at least 5 or 6 feet tall). Should I wait a little bit more until I should pull it? Or is it a male for sure since its starting to have little balls at the top of the head and the other ones not?(The tiny balls im referring to have no hairs coming out of them, just green leave type things..
