Today was a travel day, caught the bus to town at 5:30. I searched high and low today for more cfls. I was only able to buy 4 more at 28 watt, 125 watt incandescent equivulate. Tomorrow will be another day wiring and working on the growspace. I will have 8 lights in there now for a total of 1000 watts. Since I don't know that much about the lighting requirements for my babies I am hoping that this will get me started until the other 5 bulbs I have ordered arrive.....lol living here does have it drawbacks but the advantages far outway the disadvantages. The other news is that I have my fifth clone now that is rooted and will go into the soil tomorrow. The four that have spent the last two nights in the growspace are looking much better and showing nice new growth. I still have 2 clones that haven't rooted yet but I have opened the rockwool on one of them and it is rooting just not poking out of the rockwool yet......oh boy these two are off of Linda so I am excited.
Here is the plan and I would love some input since I am so new at the indoors part. Since these clones were all either in preflower or flower when the clones were taken, I want to grow them up to about 8 to 10 inches before they go back outside to flower naturally. Since the rooting times are different I will have several different heights in the room at night. They do go outside every mornning between 5 and 6 and get put up at about 5 in the evening to get their other light.......LOL still looking for a timer down here......going into San Jose on Saturday to see if I can find one there so the get 18/6 instead of 24/0 they are getting now.
Tell me what ya'll think you indoor growers. thanks for all the views and comments so far.bongsmilie

She doesn't look any worse for wear. There's nothing like direct sun, to dry things out.

Too bad you don't have a donkey to help you hall your manure around. lol

Don't be fooled by those equivalent watts on the package, because the plants aren't...

Go by actual watts. I have 10 23w's for cloning and veging. That's nearly the equivalent of a 250w metal halide, but the light is more evenly dispersed, and these CFL are more efficient.

GreenCross thanks for the comments and the info on the wattages. I have all 8 lights hanging now, I had to totally take it apart and start from scratch. The little enclosure is so much brighter now and I'm able to put each one under its' own light. I keep hoping that the other lights come in soon. I am ready to get the electricial finished now so get the walls finished with whatever I can find. I have looked high and low for the maylar down here but no luck so far. I may just end up with product that is like a stucco but is a bright white plastic. Since I have been down here I have found more products that I never heard of before along the lines of construct. What's really funny I was in that business most of my adult life......lol.
Anyway I ramble tonight. Tomorrow I will post my pics of the week to include the new room. Thanks again for all the people that have been reading and commenting, it sure gives a man a sense accomplishment.:bigjoint:

Mr. Canefan,

Good day to you and thank you for the link.

Seems that your outdoor environment is treating your plants well. I like the fact that you have use of a greenhouse. Are you exchanging air? if so, at what rate?
I would like to suggest you use a mild weed killer on all the vegetation growing in and under the walls. Any plant that you didn't put into the growing area should be eradicate as to elevate chances of insect/mite infestation. Some weeds and invasive plants flower and fruit late which attracts problems. FYI
Green houses are technically "outdoor" growing as far as lighting conditions are considered, however in most other aspects it should be approached like indoor gardening. I am a great fan of greenhouse gardening as it is best of both worlds. You can create an ideal environment with a green house that you cannot obtain any other way. I would like to see you expand on your greenhouse gardening for the project if you are interested. I think in that case you would be an excellent addition to the project. I would also like to see the project make an actuall outdoor appearance in your neck of the woods if that could be done.
I also wanted to comment on the quality of the photographs. Great job! this aspect of the project is very important considering that it will eventually be published along with the information provided by your journal. Take care, stay in touch, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks again for the invite into your current journal.

Well folks it has been a busy week on the farm. I have gotten my veg room somewhat complete still have more lights coming. I wish I could find the big cfls down here but I haven't had any luck with that, maybe I can travel to San Jose tomorrow and look. The clones and the seedlings are looking much better with the extra lights now though. I took another clone of Linda yesterday after the other 2 rooted finally. I am going to take another clone of Runt later this afternoon, the bottom branch. This branch is very low and I don't think that it will support a bud without being tied up, so I might as well take a clone.
I am also going to make multiple posts today on the different plants with pictures. I think it will be easier to see the progress of the different plants that way. I am going to post the veg room and some clones in this post.
As always I look forward to all comments and suggestions.

I really should find another name of Runt as she is not the runt of the litter any longer. Granted she is still short only 27 inches tall and 29 inches wide, but she is taller than the rest of the girls. Runt has really come on strong the past week. I reviewed my photos of her history and can't believe how well she has filled out. Also, the pistils are pink on her or should I say some of them are pink.
Linda is doing well, had a bit of a insect problem on Friday afternoon. What ever bug it was munched on the pistils, cutting them off all nice and even around the bud. What a year this has been.....lol and the joys of growing outdoors sometimes.
The first photos are of Runt and then Linda. As Always comments and suggested wanted and welcomed.

Linda is below

You will see in this photo the fun some insect had, hope it was a good lunch for him. :finger:

Thanks for looking at the journal and for anyone interested in seeing a more complete gallery of the plants you can see them at photobucket under canefan1955.

I have given a lot of thought on whether to combine these babies in this grow journal or to start another. I guess I will start here and if ya'll think that these babies would be better in another journal then I will do that.
This part then consists of 2 Lowryder #1s and an el monstre. Both of these strains come from sanniesseeds.com. They were very quick to germ and a bit slow to come out of the ground. I germed them on the 2nd of August and put them in the soil on the 3rd. They didn't break the ground until the 6th of August. Today they are looking ok nothing special yet. El monstre is starting to pick up the growth rate now (I am waiting to hear from sannie on the lineage), but looks mostly indica. The lowryder have been slow and are staying slow. This is totally an experiment in the auto's and also for breeding in the future. I just want to play with the auto's and from my reading and research the lowryder #1s are good for breeding a stable line in the future. What is retirement? playing with my plants and seeing what is possible to do or not do. Currently I only have pollen from this years' grow so this batch of seeds wouldn't be anything special but should give me an idea of ratio's in the future of autos and non autos from breeding. Like I say totally a fun thing to do and see what happens.
The el monstre I hope to take a few clones and see what sex it is and then decide what to do with it and how it grows out. The pics below will be of the babies at day 10 out of the dirt.
The first is the el monstre, then the lowryders.

I'm glad I stopped by, got to see the new pics. You're new veg area looks fine to me. Then just fill in (side-lighting) between... with your extra CFL's once they get taller. :leaf:

Thanks I got 6 more yesterday and the way I have them hung I can raise and lower each one independently of each other. I only plan on growing most of these clones to 8 to 10 inches tops before they go back outside to make room for the new grow coming. Going to do the wiring as soon as I cut a little grass for the compost pile this morning.:weed:

I am back from my adventure, but I return with bads news for my girls. While I was gone it appears that the man in charge kept the greenhouse closed and Mary and Jane were very wet from the humidity. Jane was cut down this morning with little spots of mold on her buds. Mary was beheaded and the bottom buds still appear healthy. The total wet weigh Jane was 57 grams in her 8th week of flower. Mary's cola weighed 31 grams. :finger::wall: The good news of the return was that Linda and Runt are doing extremely well. The size of the buds on Linda have sure grown out nicely the last week. So I am happy with that. The 3 clones that I have from her are doing very well, all rooted. That will be updated tomorrow with pictures. Runt is now in flower just getting started. I have to laugh now that Runt is the biggest out of the crop, the last to flower. She is 42 inches in height and best guess is 44 in girth.
I am still recoverying from the adventure to Panama and the bus ride back. They even brought dogs through this time....lol All of us on the bus standing on the side of the road with our bags in front of us with our IDs out......I think I had soiled my pants is why I got by.......lol. I was holding a small amount trying to bring some seeds back. That is another story. The first pictures are Linda today, then a couple of Runt and ending with what is left of Mary...:wall:

Well I know it wasn't a big update but I will get caught up tomorrow and more pictures of the the other babies. Once again all comments and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks for the welcome back. Jane is totally chopped down and hanging now. I went in and cut off all the moldy spots and weighed her at 57 grams wet. Mary lost her cola at 31 grams wet. That is after going through it with a magnifying glass to make sure I cut all the mold out of them. They were 8 weeks into flower so it is early but I quick dried some and got a very stoney head buzz from it. Good smoke for working on the farm, very uplifting. So Mary is still growing and I am watching her closely to make sure that no mold is left. I don't need that crap to get into my other girls. I will be posting on the clones and the new seedling later today.
